New Member Advantages
#1
So I have talked this over with a few alumni and it looks like this would be a very good idea. As all of us know, we always need somethign from advance auto/fairfax auto parts/NAPA when our cars break down or we are working on something. I had always offered any of our members here 20% off all advanced auto things using my discount. Well Jason took advantage of that and I order a radiator and drive-axle for him.

With my AA discount it became 250.63...well....not too bad, especially brand new radiator and he had the drive-axle next day. Well, I was just looking around for prices for him in between customers and realized something...commercial accounts...
I am part of the commercial side of advance auto and sometimes act as commercial manager. Decided to see how much Jason's stuff would be if I put it in as our highest level of commercial account. The total was now 183 something.... WAAYYYYY more than even my employee discount. So I created a fake account for him real quickly and then sold him the stuff for the price and it popped an idea in my head....

Why not a Madison Motorsports Commercial Account? All I need is an address and maybe a phone number, and if I can get the tax eexempt id, taxes would not need to be paid (need to find out if its legal, but we do it for all our commercial guys and also we are a non-profit organization). Also I would need to be constantly kept updated of our members and ONLY Those who have paid and are listed as paid in the book every year would be able to use the account. The account would be setup in Vienna Advanced Auto, but can be called in. There WILL be a list of those who have paid on account, so those who think they can use account, wont be able to if they havent paid dues.

I think this would be a great asset and great way to get members to actually pay cause the discounts can be up to 70% off retail on some pieces! Jason's axle was originally 79.88, down to 30 bucks! His radiator from 2-- to 130 bucks.

Now my official commercial manager has approved all of this and looks forward to the idea as this benefits them as much as it benefits us, as they are always looking for more business. So if your buying stuff, go the advanced auto, especially the Vienna one which will be much easier to access. Hell, buying an air filter? commercial account will take money off, and dont think that ust the stuff on the website and instore is all they have, we can order through second source and our catalogs.

If this is something the club is seriosuly interested. Please let me know and it will be setup. And once it is setup, I urge you to do more shopping with that account than going to any other store, as you will get better prices and we can keep a healthy relationship for that account. PS- I will be setting it up as highest discount possible, and if I get tax empt id, that means no taxes, but have to figure out if its legal.

No reason why you couldn't setup a MM commercial account and it would be a great idea. We should beable to goto ANY advance and take advantage of it (hint, hint NOVA/MD people), but the above, is illegal. Taxes must be paid at some point. If someone is buying parts to resale and then charge tax then they can purchase tax exempt, if you are buying to use in the normal run of the business or personal use then you must pay taxes at time of purchase.

You can setup a commercial account and get commercial prices which aren't always cheaper than retail but the individual buyer must pay taxes at the point of sale. The commercial invoices AA generates will be submitted the IRS so if they get bored and decide to audit MM, we're in deep doo-doo.

the discount it the most valuable part. i wouldn't mind waving the tax for the ease of being legit.

and a HUGE thanks to DJ for the hookup. helped me out a ton when i needed a radiator and especially with the drive-axle (i'll call you again to see when i can go grab that).

Andy there are different commercial advantages in Advanced Auto, I will be setting up one with the most amount of discount :o ... The average person can come in and set up a commercial account at Advance Auto, but they get the bottom discount advantage. Basically almost nothing. That is why I will be setting it up on level 4 (highest), where the average person can only get level 1 or 2 if they are really spending money.

However, it doesnt automatically discount oil, but you can bargain with the commercial manager to get a better deal on the oil, but mostly only if its in bulk. If a bunch of people wanted to get oil, lets say mobil one??? We can throw in a pot of money and buy a lot of it for a good chunk of money off. If anybody is interested in getting a bunch of mobil 1, we could do a group buy of 20 cases and get a bunch knocked off.

Stuff like brake pads, radiators, alternators, belts, water pumps, etc etc. all get really big discounts.

I will be setting it up with the first purchase, Lee, give me a call at 703-674-9771 if you need your stuff, or stop by the Vienna Advance Auto between 7:30AM and 5:30PM M-F and ask for Dj, or even ask for Keith. This is all legit and approved by my commercial manager (Keith) so you can straight walk in and not "underhand" me the money.

Anyone can stop by and purchase and we can set up the account.

So once this is set up would I be able to roll into my local New Hampshire AA and pick up a cheap set of rotors? I saw chad say that it would theoretically work that way , but I'm just wondering if I would have to go through some process like clearing things with your location first.

For all those in different locations in Advanced Auto, unfortunately, our systems are not all interconnected. All they would have to do the first time you bought something at that advanced auto is to call Store #09023 at 703-281-9777 and quickly setup (takes less than 30 seconds if the guy isnt a numbnut). Then after that it should stay in the system, make sure that they confirm it is a LEVEL 4 commercial, otherwise you will get SHIT for discount.

For all those in NOVA, I would really suggest stopping by the Vienna one, especially to get business towards my commercial manager who is happy to do this for us and is one of my friends. RJ, unfortunately the store in front of your house (our falls church location) is shutting down next month. So your gonna have to drag your ass to Mclean or Vienna.

Goodspeed, Ryan, or anyone else that has current members PAID pleasee send me that list IMMEDIATELY!
