Saturn Sky Redline
#1
This car is pimp as hell, Redline version, 260 hp and 260 ft lbs, 2.0L DVVT turbo & intercooled, RWD w/ LSD. 0-60 in 5.5 sec. and almost a 50/50 balance. Coming Fall 2006, MSRP unknown.

Compared to the normal N/A 2.4L w/ VVT, producing 177hp and 166 ft lbs. RWD w/ Optional LSD. Base MSRP $23k

Im a big fan, much better looking than the Solstice in my opinion as well, i know weve talked bout this car before but didnt think the redline was mentioned.

Get rid of some of the chrome trim, and this might be a cool car to drive. Wonder what the curb weight will be?

This car is sweet... Car and Driver commented that it's going to be looked at as the little brother to the Corvette, and not as a competition to the miata. Obviously, it is competition to the Miata, but I think by the look of the car CandD has it right on.

0-60 in 5.5? s2k with less power and far less torque beats that... i'm guessing gearing.

Gearing, weight, traction..... 0-60 times are worthless anyways.

Well, it's based on a shortened C6 platform.

I'm waiting for the coupe/shooting brake.

those were the times that i found with a quick check (0-60 and 1/4 mile). The S2k is quick, but not that quick Mikey Tongue

5.5 was the quickest i've seen for the s2k and they're usually around 6 sec.

i like the Sky Redline so far, but i'm actually wanting to test drive this when it becomes available.

Nitpick but the SolsticeÔÇÖs ragtop isn't taut when itÔÇÖs on. ThereÔÇÖs slack at the back of the softtop where the c-pillar would be. It bellows in the wind and makes the car look cheap. Though I do have to admit both cars are damn hot.

Either gearing or that's not the fastest time the car can pull. I figure it should be a touch faster in real life tests than that.

Pretty good performance bargain for the money and looks far better than the Solstice's frog-like front end. Winner for sure.

i've also read that the fastest times come at the expense of the driveline since super-high rpm clutch drops are required due to the narrow powerband. either that, or you burn up the clutch at those rpms.

5.3 and 13.9 have been seen by magazines, but i'm not spending the time to find it. individuals have even hit 13.7 stock.

Thats funny because Chuck Mallet has already shoved a LS2 in 1000 Solstices, keeps almost a 50/50 balance to, weighs in at 3100 lbs  $20k + price of a base solstice/sky.

Ouch, $20k? So I take it that it requires heavy modification?

well a new c6 is costing around $50k, so its not that bad of a deal. If you have some kinda of fetish for these things to make you not buy a new c6 instead.
