that amount of power for that price is insanely poor. i think crossfires are kind of neat but i just can't understand the appeal of modifying one like that, at that price, except being unique.

it looks cool as hell, but you could make the same kit, or something rediculously close, for a ton cheaper.
The piping layout on that is super cool though. It took me a second to figure it out, and I really like it.
dude, if ANYONE out their can give me suggestions on how to make this much horsepower out of this car w/ spending up the wazoo, please let me know (I'm just not too familiar with the mechanicals of making a turbo set-up). Dave, what would you suggest to make the kit cheaper.
Here's some more info on the project:
twin turbo crossfire
twin t3/t04e 68 hotside 70 coldside
twin speedmax performance intercoolers
twin waste gates
Uh, for that much money you could get a custom built naturally aspirated race engine for that car and probably boost it at the same time. That's about how much my project is going to cost.
It's going to be capable of a LOT more horspower than that too, at all 4 wheels.
Whoever is making that kit is just charging a silly premium because they're one of the only ones out so far. It's kind of like that retarded $20,000 Dinan supercharger kit for the M3s that only nets like 475chp.

Twin intercoolers is retarded.
JMHO.

My recommendation, if you want to save $$, will not necessarily have the same power output, but will put you in the right direction. I'm not sure about fuel tuning on your car, so that will be something left
-get two smaller turbos. All that really matters is that they are the same kind, They won't net huge power, but spool will be nonexistant, and you can always upgrade turbos later; buy used ones at first to get your setup running and work out the bugs. These will also typically have integrated wastegates, so you won't have t blow extra dough on those either. Used turbos : $1500, and that is being generous
-you can get intercoolers all day long on ebay. They may not be bar-and-plate, which tend to be much more expensive, but you could probably get two intercoolers of a similar size of that setup for $800
-have the piping custo made. Any exhaust shop can weld up a pipe setup, you just give them spedifics. If you want to get real fancy, buy mandrel bends off of ebay and let them do the rest. Powdercoat after they are done and you're all done there, Couplings are $15 each. Piping total shouldn't be more that $500.
-upgrade your fuel pump: this s virtually always required, shouldnt be more than $150
-the hardest part that I can see about this project will be your exhaust manifold. I would think a machine shop should be able to fab up some custom manifolds for a chunk of change. Let's say $2000, though I have no idea how much it might really cost.
So:
turbos: $1500
intercoolers: $800
piping: $500
fuel pump: $150
manifolds: $2000
Total: $5000, which is probably on the high side
Do what you want about figuring out how much fuel is going to the engine, but this should get you a fairly relable twn turbo setup based solely on the setup you displayed, for a fraction of the cost. Now, you could probably get creative for the intercoolers and save some money and hassle. I don't clam to know it all, but I do think $10k for a turbo setup is a bit out of the "affordable' price range.
fuel pump, larger injectors along with ECU and dyno time (those two are going to be big dollar on a car with no aftermarket support).
$9000 is reasonable, if that price includes installation and tuning.

Yea. The two intercoolers seem a little bit crazy considering probably less than 1 will actually see any air from the front fender. Interesting idea. Rolling deep to buy that package.
Aren't the Crossfires auto trans only? Would a slushbox be able to handle that kind of horsepower?
Two feet.
wait - doesnt the crossfire use the same engine from the MB SLK? not that that car has a huge aftermarket following, but their has got to be something and for 12 grand you could probly swap in an AMG engine
Technically you could swap in the amg version of it, or the srt-6 *same thing*...
Ciro daves suggestion is good if there is an aftermarket ecu. Pick up two new evo3 16g turbos 550 new EACH if you look around. Dual setup on 3000gts which also have 3.0l 6 is 600whp maxxing out. So 400-450whp would be attainable. The slushbox will be able to handle it but you may have to up torque converter, which reduces daily driveability. Dave's suggestions work only if there is an ecu that can handle it, also the stock block and slushbox, I ma not 100% sure that it is capable of handling the power. A given would be upgrading the cooling system of the car too. That engine was *technically* not meant to be boosted and so therefore its cooling capabilities may also not be up to par, so you may be looking at an external oil cooler, upgraded radiator, and if I personally was spending that much money, I would put on a new aluminum pan with baffles and a larger oil capacity. Also, youll need a fuel pressure regulator, maybe even upgraded fuel filter, fuel lines. Hell there are so many variables as it was not a boosted car originally.

Thanks for the suggestions. My car is a 6-speed manual, just to let everyone know. Uh, the SRT-6 engine would be nice, but the modification possiblilities of the supercharged engine is limited, as only super high-end tuners are willing to upgrade it at steep prices. Many Crossfire owners think about putting the SRT-6 engine into there six-speed manual cars (as the SRT-6 is only auto), but nobody has done it yet. I heard that the ECU for this turbo application costs about $5000!!!!! Yep, that's not a misprint. Now, I somewhat like the idea of just throwing out the engine, and putting some other engine in that would handle boost, as it seems that used engines on ebay are about $2000-$4000. Any suggestions here for what engine could go into this car?
I say megasquirt, twin turbo, and go.
Done.

My quick fix to this problem... sell the car for the $15K you can get for it, save that $10k from the silly turbo setup, and find yourself a 95 Viper RT/10. lol. I'm on a Viper kick right now so any expenditure of 25K+ = Viper for me. I just got back from driving the SRT-10 truck...mmmmm 505hp. The Crossfire is at this point discontinued (you will notice the Crossfire is the only car on Chrysler's website still listed as an 05') so there will be little Crossfire specific development from Chrysler and a similar trend from the aftermarket. I would look more at old SLK parts if you are gonna keep it long term. Like most things Benz its really hard to get power out of it on a College budget. Hacking the car up with some homemade turbo setup is going to do nothing but destroy what resale value it does have. It will be a cult car at some point in the future, so keeping it as it is might be worth a shot. More specifically to the turbo set up above: The turbos are far to large (laggy), the dual ICs is retarded, and the money they are asking is the insane. Oh, and the lack of engine cover kills the bling
