Ha. I knew you would end up with a bigger turbo in the end. Better start looking at forged stuff

well, here is the deal. I spoke with pete about his set up and I have been speaking with TD people about mine. I already have ALL the parts needed for a Super 60 set-up...except the turbo itself. I just do not want a laggy non-street friendly turbo. The super 60 will have a bit more lag but my extra .3L outta help that out a bit. At this point it is the difference between 260hp and 300+. The question is do I need 300+? Will It be useful to have that much power given the fact that it will likely be mothing more then a street rider and an auto-X car? If I take to drag racing then yes...300 is a must, but if I don't then it just might be wasted money. In the end there will be traction issues anyway...so I just really don't know. feedback?

I say keep it, and get the motor going and your project finished. If you dont like it, then change it.

That is sorta Sylvia's point of view RJ. But then I tell her "Our turbo goes from a $400 piece to a $250 one and was finding out its not enough worth that money and future downtime" Which puts her in the same place as me on the matter. I guess we will already have all the goods we really need and we could live with it...and then up-grade later if the need arises...hmm

It solely depends on what you plan on doing with the car. You are definitly going to upgrade to a limited slip atleast at somepoint in the near future to handle the power you will be putting down. If you think you are going to want a bigger turbo than you might as well sell yours while it is still freshly rebuilt and get more money for it.
Up to you.

$750 plus shipping gets this into my life.... hmmm
EDIT-
I thought it might help to tell everyone what we have gotten that makes us S60 ready, or for that matter, bigger boost on stock turbo ready
What we already have-
TII Intake w/ larger TB and port job
Ported exhaust manifold w/ EGT tap
Custom made WG actuator
2.5in SV
Rail mounted Adjustible FPR
+40 injectors (largest availible s60 style)
Roller cam
Fast-burn head w/ gasket match port job
TII rods
Turbo XS Bypass valve
Mopar Performance "2003" headgasket
What we will be getting in the next order (approx $800-1000 w/o a new turbo)-
255lph fuel pump
Turbos Unleashed custom ECU w/ dual stage boost controller built in
3in Exhaust from turbo back
HUGE FMIC
TU Kevlar street/race clutch
With all this we are an s60 car ready to make 300hp. The bottom end is sound to 350 or better if the egt and a/f are closely monitored.

just to let ya know they have the t3 super60 at http://www.cheapturbo.com for $675 + shipping. If your worried about lag than why go with the larger S60. Think of a 50 trim with .48 a/r to cut down on lag, or possibly a t3/t4 hybrid.
I don't trust that place like you do. And why would I get that when the real deal Turbonetics is only $750 w/ a 2 year warranty? A Hybrid turbo is lag city on these cars, only used in drag apps. I'm not interested in Voodoo about trim sizes and such, I don't need a busted car . The Super 60 is a proven deal. Developed by the people who built the car. The only reason Turbonetics is such a big deal to me is they were the originial contractor to mopar. There are all kinds of crazy turbos out there, the one I have will push out 30PSI if I really want it too (way outside opperating range). I'm sorta talking myself out of the bigger turbo every second I think about it.
A good description of the S60-
"It is to the stock TII Garrett, what the Garrett is to the TI mitsu."
![[Image: turbo_wheels.jpg]](http://www.thedodgegarage.com/turbo/turbo_wheels.jpg)
Garrett on the left Mitsu on the right
Thats a big difference. I'm just not sure I really need it for a non-drag car. I'm looking to be running 18 daily and 25 on race gas. That is only a little outside the stockers opp range (highest inside said range is 22) and it outta be ok. The big deal is the .48 hotside. That due to flow limits me to a max of anything from 245 to 270 depending on who you talk to.

well, what's the power curve look like with that .48? it's probably awesome for what you want out of it.
i curse my tiny K03 every day but i can't tell you it's not super easy to drive around town and it was really fun when i autocrossed it the last time.....having boost at like 2000 rpm is very convenient

i know alotta guys who have purchased turbos from them they have also had a couple of subies featured in magazines. I was refered to them by my friend with the 11 sec GSX. they sell rebuilt turbos but mostly deal in brand new stuff. Just tryin to save ya some money. their customer service is very good as well.
keep that one, sell it if decide you really need more.
ill agree with keeping it, keep it and see what its like to have boost, then when you are completely addicted get a bigger turbo.

ouch hock: like i said, atleast my car is assembled
true that!
I am thinking to use the stocker. It will likely work better for our task and will have boost at lower RPMs. Keep your eyes open for a good deal on a wideaband guys.

go big or go home, I should have went with a larger turbo, im only going to be pulling 325-330 awhp, out of this 16g. Should have gone with my first instincts to get something bigger. I Say do the bigger turbo!
