those are def pimp as hell, FYI i hate Jags.
I LOVE that car. The interior is not quite as nice as it appears though, it feels very sterile and forced. I sat in one about 6 months ago at a new car show. Engine sounds great though =D

Why do you hate jags? OR do you just hate the "ford" jags. Like the X-type XJ and S....Those are just ford jags. Real jags are the xj and xk. And until you have ever driven a modern xj or xk, you will not understand.....the steering is like soft butter but firm. The power is astronomical along with the torque and they have gorgeous sculpted bodies. The XK is the most beautifully shaped and classy designed convertible under 100 grand.
PS- I may be a little biased as my family owned both the xj and xk, and we have had mercedes and infiniti and wont even consider BMWs, yuck.... I do like mercedes also though. The xk was a kick to drive, but scared the hell outta me. First time driving my dad told me to drive the xk on the highway back from leesburg to Reston. We got to the tollbooth on the entrance ramp, my dad gave me a grin and pushed a button on the j-gate to switch to better gearing for acceleration. He said I needed to get up to speed in time. Holy god, that thing scared me at the time. IT launches like hell from what I can remember, but that was when I was first learning, so who knows.

Why the BMW hate? I want to hear your reasons for why you dislike them when comparing them to Jags. You are comparing two completly different cars here. Also, what mercedes has your family owned so that I can better understand where you are coming from?

Mercedes 300TE station wagon
Plus ive test-driven myself clks, slks, s-classes. e-class, and c-class.
The C class is just plain junk in my book, Why did they even create it is my question.
My mom's 300TE has 130,000 miles, runs like a damn top, has original paint that looks new and has been in quite a few fender benders. It has saved my life twice in accidents that would have crushed less prepared cars. I will admit however, the quality of mercedes has gone down since my mother's 89 300TE, she wont give it up. We test cars every year thinking she will want another vehicle, but in the end her car she has now performs better than a lot of the newer ones. Her car has plenty more power or gearing on the highway to get it up to speed faster than the c-classes (She wants a small sedan for her next car)
I do not hate bmws, I said yuck, they are not very good vehicles and way overpriced in my opinion. I dislike them compared to real jags because they are nowhere near as refined and classy. Take the interiors for example. On an XJ you sit in the interior and you feel like you are in a classy and plush interior. Little details like wood shifter knob, and the way the dash flows. It just is classy. The interior of a 7 is nice, but it feels more business like, like its trying to be a sports car but its also trying to be a premier luxury car at the same time. It ruins the classiness of it.
Exterior of the xj is smooth, sculpted and reaks of luxuriousness. The 7 series has an agressive futuristic look of it, that I personally hate, and what the hell is with its back end too?
Compare the 6 series convertible to the XK and youll find a lot of the same differences. Look at the 6-series dash and compare it to an XK. The 6 series is all tuetonic interior, and just plain well....non-refined. The XKs panels flow together with the wood paneling and the leather has an artistic shape. Compare the steering wheels. Have you ever driven an XK steering wheel? The wood with leather combo makes me weak in the knees compared to the ugly steering wheel of the 6 series.
That's just a difference in brand philosophies. BMW is more about performance luxury whereas Jaguar and Mercedes are more about just luxury. BMW's have always had good but not super luxurious interiors but where they set themselves apart is performance.
Jaguar used to be big into racing too but not anymore since they've fallen on rough times. Even then, production Jaguars haven't been raced for some time now where BMW has always had good production-based race programs.
Anyway BACK ON TOPIC!!!
I think the STS-V is a fabolous car and I feel Cadillac will only get better. For my money I'd still get the M5 but I would get the STS-V before an E55.

The V series is fantastic. I think its great that Caddy has had the balls to sink that much R&D into a risky move that goes against its repuatation to go after a performance market. Were I shopping in that segment, I would have a hard time putting down the money on a more expensive, slower european car.
The only thing I dont like about the V series is that they abandon the Caddy trademark grille. Caddy has built a strong brand on the big vertically slanted grill that has established the look as a brand. Similar to BMW, dodge, and others (can you imagine a BMW without the kidney grilles? of course not)

The STS-V is slower...E-55 is the fastest, then m5 then sts-v.
Remember what I said about Jaguars, bmws and mercedes is my personal opinion. Do not get offended that I may not personally like your brand of vehicle. Hell, I know most people on this forum are not big fans of the eclipse.
I didnt say faster in a straight line.
If someone gave me a E-55, id still sell it and buy something else.
i think jags suck and when i say suck i mean ugly as hell...... IMO of course and due to myself not having the pleasure of driving/ test driving these higher end vehicles i can only judge on looks....hell most expensive car ive ever driven is my uncles 03 SS camaro.
ItÔÇÖs a nice looking car. I think its funny this tread has turned into Euro hate...my big American power thread turned into American hate. I have gained a ton of respect for BWM in the past year. I would personally rather have an e36 M3 (white...mmmm) then ANY Jag, Caddy, or Benz. Save a 59' Eldorado Convertible or Hearse. I have always had an interest in owning a meat wagon. I have driven a 58' Caddy ambulance/hearse with a 500ci V8... not a performer but it would go strait pretty good. Anyways. The Caddy in question seems to be a good candidate to take on BWM and Benz for a good full-sizeish sports sedan. The SRT8 needs a bit of a re-work in handling to be in the same category but with the rising star of Chrysler at this time I'm sure they will take a better aim at that marked soon. Maybe this Caddy will help bring GM around?

i think caddy finally decided it needs to try and sell something other than an escalade in order to stay a float.
Well, sorry folks, but I really don't like the STS-V. Over-priced for the junky interior plastics, and, more importantly, after countless accounts, the CTS-V is FASTER!!! Plus, it's a 6-speed manual. For the price of a STS-V, I can buy a new CTS-V, get headers, exhaust, UUC short-throw shifter, a Magna-Charger Supercharger, and an upgraded clutch for less than $62,000, when the STS-V starts at about $76,000. Uhh, oh yeah, the CTS-V with the above goodies will easily put the engine well above 500 crank horsepower. Lastly, I think the CTS-V looks better, but that's just subjective.
Here's some good news for Cadillac:

I would take a STS-V as well. So unique and refined.

For a long time the M3 was faster than the M5, its only now that the M5 is clearly faster, in a straight line anyway.
I agree the plastics in the Cadillacs need improvement but in their first generation of a total brand revamp they're looking pretty good.

Yeah, i dont think you can compare a CTS and an STS, they arent meant to be the same car. Also, I didnt mean for this to be a hater thread...was just saying that I'd prefer the caddy over the jag, and that's not the jag i was talking about, i was talking about the XJR
