Are you going to modify it or keep it stock??
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

whiskey tango foxtrot, chad.

You're just not going to know what to do with a car that actually turns!

Best of luck..... whats the mileage/maintenance history like? Before it hits the track, replace the *entire* cooling system - radiator, hoses, water pump (wasserpumpen!), t-stat and t-stat housing (get the aluminum one). All of that shit is a ticking time bomb on those cars. Oh, and the transmission mounts, replace those too.... and the rear trailing arm bushings if you have time.

Because any E36 is guaranteed to be a POS. They require a lot of attention past 80k miles.

Cool!

so.... yeah, is there a "plan" for this thing? Did the mustang finally get too scary and expensive?

but I'm confused. Something just isn't right when a 'merican car nut buys one of these..... you aren't just going to wreck it into a tree to make a point or something are you?

Oh, and if you thought the mustang was easy to mis-shift on track, well good luck with this! :o

really. Unconfuse me. What is the point of this thing? I fear gross misuse and nefarious plans.... :evileye:

Yea, I still like the 'rustang better too Wink

Jesus dude, first, I don't read either of those, second I found it in the last issue of Roundel (BMW Club Magazine)

It will be a daily/track car.

36k miles, never been track, according to prior owner. Trans mounts and rear control arm mounts are high on the list, cooling system was added, what's the problem w/ the radiator and water pump?

The prior owner (1 owner car) had all the BMW service notes in the manual, oil changes/filter ever 5-6k miles (mobil 1). Blackstone reports every oil change since 16k miles. New brake pads/rotors, coolant flush and redline oil in gear box and differential.

BLINGMW Wrote:Oh, and if you thought the mustang was easy to mis-shift on track, well good luck with this! :o

Yea, I took it out last night and found the shifting must to be desired. On those aftermarket shifters, do they clean up any of the 'slop' in changing gears, that shifter in hand almost feels like a wet noodle.

Maybe this will clear things up. I just picked it up in Jersey City ($130 in gas + $91.50 in tolls) for a buddy of mine Smile. He doesn't have a garage and since it has no tags it _could_ get towed. So he is keeping it at my place until MVA is open Tuesday. He does plan on tracking it and if all goes well he will be at Summit w/ us this month. Short list of mods were,

Exhaust (Crossed off b/c it came with Supersport catback)
Trans Bushings
Shifter
Rear Control arm bushings.
Tires (non R compound but something sticky)
Brake Pads

So there you have it Smile I'm just babysitting for a few days

ah HA!!! I knew something wasn't right.

and no, I think short shifters on that car are a bad idea IMHO, just making the money shift easier to do. But replacing the bushings in the linkeage should help a lot. Although in a '98, it shouldn't be THAT bad....

i thought it was too good to be true (and didn't make any sense) Tongue

tell me about it. 2 in MD, 2 in deleware and the NJ Turnpike, that was just the trip up, then we (he) had to pay the same tolls on the way back, plus we were at the 4 axel rate!
