Hello all! The GTI has been a great car and I still like it very much. It was the best decision I think I've made and really helped me get my life in order after a tumultuous first year post graduation. However, with the Spec3 build coming along and my current 1.9 mile commute, I'm putting less than 100 miles on it a month some times and I have bigger plans.
No, this is not a rushed decision. I've been contemplating, crunching numbers, and discussing this with anyone who would listen for months. No, I'm not in a hurry to do any of this.
For sale:
2018 GTI SE, 6 speed Manual
Plaid Cloth Interior
Mechanical LSD
Golf R brakes (new front pads and rotors installed. Rear pads included)
LED Lighting Package
14,000 miles
Boomba Racing Blow Off Valve Adapter for the turbo noises
New Oil Pan gasket
New Clockspring
New Headunit Screen
You know the car's story, you know what I used it for. I'll post some more pics later this week, but it's just a stock 18 GTI. Not much else to it. It's a great car that very quick, handles exceptionally well, and has the best interior for this price point, undoubtably.

Isn't the standard 6yr/72k warranty still active for new buyers? I'd advertise that if it's the case.

GLWS yes. The warranty carries over. 6year 72k bumper to bumper. Pretty great deal.

I'm not sure what the market is on these things but pretty sure your price is a fair bit optimistic, since you can get a new base model with the brakes/diff standard for around the same money. This might be a rare situation where trading it in leaves you even money or money ahead.

Yeah, price probably is too high. Luckily with my down payment and overpayment, I have some equity in this. Similarly optioned cars are listed for the same, but I'm sure I'll need to drop for private party.
Going to see what I'll get on trade in, but I have the ability to go without the GTI for a week or two if I need so I'll leverage that to make sure I come out alright. Don't want to take any losses I don't need to.

Trade is probably 19 and private is probably 22.
source: I just recently priced what my '17 S with 5k miles is worth (~19.3)

I think the '18s are worth a bit more with that long standard warranty though.
It's priced ambitiously, but if he can get the higher price then good. I doubt he's in a rush to sell anyway.

Give me one reason this isn't the perfect vehicle. No need to buy the trailer seperately. You'll never have to rent a moving truck again. Don't want to pay for an Uber home from the bar? Just park nearby and bring a sleeping bag. Can't afford rent anymore? Just install an HVAC unit on the box. Throw a rear view camera on it and it's the perfect around town vehicle!

if it were the actual one pictured... I'd probably be down. enclosed trailer hunting and upgrading is "not fun."

Please for the love of god don't try to reinvent the wheel and just get a solid well known trailer in a size everyone uses.
PS- Figure out a way to get the bed off the floor since no matter what it's going to get the bed sheets dirty.

I'm sorry I've betrayed you by leaving the GTI cult. It's a great car and better to drive than an F150. I hope you can still look me in the eye.

You're not a part of the cult if you complain about the abuse.
Listen to RJ and take the 20k. If they still have cash on the hood of the 2019s like they did with ours, selling it private party is gonna be a PITA. The S model stickers for $27.5k and comes with the performance bits standard now, lop $4-5k in rebates off of that and a used SE is gonna be pretty unappealing compared to a spanking new S for most people.

I didn't know. Definitely will take advantage of this then. Hopefully can end up with a lower payment.

I like the part where I bought an S right before VW included a longer warranty and better parts.
