So I’m not going to beat around the bush, I think the club has started to fall away from the Motorsports part of Madison Motorsports. It’s okay if people don’t want to track their car or go to every autocross, but those types of people shouldn’t be the ones running a motorsport club. I fell in love with the track and pushing my car to the limit because I was shown what this club is really about, and I feel like current and new students don’t see that side of us because it’s not actively being showcased. I want to bring back our ties with NASA in having more new students come out and work/drive/network because that’s what turns this from a college club, into a lasting connection with motorsports and the people apart of it. I want to have more events to showcase different types of motorsports, I.E. drifting, drag, track, moto, offroading, etc.
I feel like I helped create a lot of the events this year, and while I don’t mind helping out behind the scenes, it would be much more efficient to be in a role where things can get done quickly such as Vice President. From reaching out to places for private tours, organizing get-togethers, getting new t-shirts made, and finding new members, I think I did a lot as a member this year and learned a lot in the process that would help me best lead this club.
Most of you probably already know me as the one who comes on your thread and asks a million questions at once, so now it’s your turn to ask away and distract me from studying for finals. Whatcha want to know?

Why do you have finals in March?
Can you handle taking care of all positions this year? Seems like you are the only person running for officer?

Yeah we decided a single dictatorship was probably the best route to go next year. Club dues will now be the title to your car and Miatas will be given to each new member.

I'll have some questions for you soon, but I'll ask some now.
Being an officer means you're representing the club. Are you able to tone down the strong personality and be serious and professional when it's needed? You can be an officer and try to lead, but no one will follow if you're an ass all the time. Ask me how I know. You've got the drive, you've got the ambition, but I think you should take a few more pages out of the book of Jake and a few less out of the book of Taylor.
Some times you need to take a step back and speak less and listen more. (Yes, I see the irony. That's how I know)

I also realize conduct is different as an officer versus a normal member and understand my actions will represent the club moving forward even after my graduation, which I don't take lightly.

The speed limit? Doesn’t matter if I’m leading 6 members or not.

Events on/near the quad on a monthly basis
Fundraisers
Mixers
Local businesses
Car shows other than our own
Trips to auto related places (dealers, manufacturers, etc)
Larger social media presence
MM cards
New apparel
Utilizing dorm RA’s
Closer ties with MAAP
Other ideas that I can’t think of right now

Other ideas that I can’t think of right now Why would mm go to a car dealership? What would MM do with dorm RAs? What would MM do with local businesses? And why would MM go to car shows, but not have ones held by us? Would it be a good idea to hold public mixers as a car club?

MM had a trip to the Ferrari dealer some years back and got a behind the scene look at things, it was a really fun day from what I’ve beDd
I have had RA’s talk to me about the club holding presentations on car maintenance (changing flat tires/oil) as well as safe driving in bad conditions.
We are currently have a local motorcycle shop as a sponsor who I’m sure would be interested in helping any interested students with moto classes. We can also use them for fundraiser locations/sponsors.
We have one held by us? It’s next week.

I am very aware of the upcoming event. However, if MM went to other shows that wouldn't be a motorsport event. Especially considering we don't have a show presence ourselves.
Going to a high-end dealership would be cool. Would Blue Ridge powersports be another MAAP or just an introduction to motorcycles, like the car dealership? Interesting idea about the RA thing as well, just don't know if people will attend.
Looking forward to see what the new leadership will have next year.

Our club as a whole is a motorsport club, but that does not mean we stand boldly against car shows. They however are not the main form of event this club endorses, the track, autocross, off-roading, drifting, etc will ALWAYS come before going to a car show. But members are free to do what they please and if that is a car show then we won’t shun them away.
Blue Ridge is not like MAAP, it’s just a dealership of motorcycles with a shop in the back. It would be an intro to motorcycles for anyone interested as well as possibly an outlet to learn how to work on a bike if you have one of your own.
