We're rolling up on 15 years since the inception of MM in April 2001 and we've managed to miss doing a 5 year anniversary at 5 and 10 years. Let's not miss this time.
I'm thinking maybe we choose one of the track weekends in March or April and do a big reunion. Get everyone out, do a catered dinner, have some events throughout the weekend, do it up big.
*Go balls out for the paddock area, get a big RV for a lounge, catered lunch or maybe some bbq grills
*Show videos pics, tell stories, recognize people at the dinner
*Have a special reunion tshirt, coffee mug, whatever souvenirs
*Have shooters with big cameras to take pics of all the proceedings (whether that means just us taking the pictures or get a pro shooter is up for discussion)

I mentioned this to the officers we should do something for anniversary and get the planning done early
My thoughts were a 15th anniversary that involved car show and karting on the same weekend with a cookout and shenanigans as Gerald mentioned
Will be fun regardless of what we do.
I like this idea. I was trying to think of the logistics of a huge cookout, but this is a great idea. Definitely try to get it have some kind of formal organization instead of everyone just hanging out. It'd be cool to have a thing where everyone shared what they've done with their life since JMU.
I would love to see something like this happen. I feel like incorporating a location at JMU or in Hburg would be awesome - hotel options, food options, event hall options, etc. Plus those feels of being back "home" where the club originated. I know when I worked one summer at Festival they have a bunch of event rooms with A/V setups for presentations, maybe we could rent one of those?
I'm down. Should we get an 80's motorcycle for sean to launch off of something?

I've been wondering how much it could cost to rent at least a section of VIR/Summit/VMP or something *just* for MM. We could organize our own automotive related shenanigans during the day, and then have an outdoor burn-it-down type type deal that night.
I assume it'd be catastrophically expensive, but I'd be willing to contribute at least a couple hundred bucks towards it.

As usual, I offer my house for any shenanigans, but the only problem is parking. I like the JMU idea too.

I'd be willing to host something out at my house in Troutville, we have 50 acres that need a dirtbike race. But we'd need a big tent 'cause we probably aren't allowed in the house.
Also 3 hours from NoVA, 2 hours from any track or go-karts....

That's kinda what I figured. Even just an autocross venue to ourselves would be so much fun though.

I imagine an autocross would be more realistic, maybe with the help of NASA or BRRSCCA. Maybe we could do a special event at Verona.

That'd be awesome. Regardless of where it was I think it'd be really awesome to get everyone out with their cars and actually do some hooning to celebrate the anniversary. We don't have to get all official, if Ray Schumin could help us figure out who to contact and pay (and lend us the BRRSCCA cone collection) we could set up a nice fast, wide course and just do a ton of untimed runs, awarding points for the most style. We're pretty familiar with the rules about course safety and cleaning up after ourselves and whatnot after all, and some of us actually run NASA events, so we have no shortage of talent to put on our own little dealio.

I know Sam mentioned possibility of renting out Shenandoah Speedway for our own autocross, but was shot down last year hard.

I know it's probably much more complicated than it seems in my head right now, like insurance and stuff, but at the very least it seems worth looking into and seeing how much it would cost, i'd be willing to contribute a pretty significant chunk of change to something like that as a once-in-15-years sort of deal. I think an auto-x lot is possibly feasible, but actually getting Shenandoah maybe not so much.
Rally-Xing and having a field party at Chan's sounds like a very, very good backup plan. Like, I'd split a $500 car with someone just to ruin on a rally-x course we kick into the dirt.
Also, I went to high school down there, so while getting drunk in a field and passing out in a barn isn't something I do frequently, I am familiar with it.

Trying to rent Shenandoah would be pretty expensive. I'm down for Chan's house. We need somewhere easy to access for everyone and that fits the bill very well, so does JMU.
