Since I can't justify posting another busted miata in the cool cars for sale, I decided to give Taylor his own thread.

If you talk to him, find out about that G8 and if that's for sale.
Thanks, Dave! This will be useful. I'm pretty sure I've seen that one for sale for a while. Looking a little lower in price for the time being, haha. I e-mailed him. My only hope is that I can get him to drop it to like $2000.
I like the wheels

I've seen every Miata listed on any Craigslist withing 200 miles of Harrisonburg since March until today. Found 3 pop up within the last 24 hours and e-mailed them all.
This being the most recent.

haha nice. i'll have to find you non-cl stuff then.
i like that last one, easy +5hp for the stripe.
It looks like a great deal depending on mileage and whatever is inevitably wrong with it. I don't mind not having A/C for now. That's a great way to chop the price without sacrificing reliability.
I've never been in a miata with A/C worth a damn, its probably worth deleting it just for weight savings. Mine would blow cool air from the vents but the cabin is so poorly insulated there really wasn't any point. The best way to drive them in super hot weather is with the top up but the windows down and the rear window zipped down. Keeps the sun off your neck but still moves a ton of air through.

Miata should not have A/C

I just saw the white one for $1800 Dave posted. That seems like it has potential, seller seems somewhat desperate. You can sell the AFR gauge and whatever other "countless" parts he throws in for free. You'd have to somehow verify the motor is good which could be difficult if it won't crank to get a compression reading, and you'd want to figure out exactly what the "electrical issue" is that his mechanic told him about. Even if it needs an ECU or something I can't imagine that would be particularly expensive or difficult on a miata.
:dunno:
There's definitely some risk but if you can answer the right questions before handing over cash it could be a good buy, especially if the price is flexible.

Good to hear, guys. I just wish someone on Craigslist would reply back to me for once.
Eh, I don't know if I want to take something like that on. Considering it's been on there for over a month, I don't think it's such a great idea.
Ah yeah, if it's been sitting there's a good chance that he's not disclosing all it's demons. Most non-running cars are a bad idea, but every once in a blue moon you can get a stupid good deal. (i.e. the '90 with 54k that I paid $500 because the clutch was beyond dead)

FWIW the '95 I had actually had really cold A/C... the issue is, like Joey said, the utter lack of insulation in the roof. It saps all the cold air out somewhere between "exiting the vents" and "hitting your face." And my aftermarket leather-but-probably-vinyl seats did a tremendous job of insulating my back, ensuring it was always nice 'n' sweaty when I arrived anywhere.
TL;DR: Leather or fake leather sucks in a Miata. AC is useless so pull the components and save the weight. 1.8 FTW but I'm clearly biased.

Guy with the first Miata Dave posted said he won't go below $2900. I don't have that. Especially not for one with 200k miles on it.
If you think a miata is slow, turn on the A/C. That said, it was decent enough at reducing sweaty ballsack and swamp ass but thats about it.
What would y'all consider "high mileage" on a Miata? I see a ton near 200k, and even as a Toyota guy, that concerns me. It seems that the slave cylinder lets go right around 190-200.
I think ive said it before, but the small premium for a 94/95 over a 92/93 is well worth it IMO, and Ive owned all years of NAs.
You get a noticeably more powerful engine, bigger brakes, wider and better looking wheels and (probably) a torsen LSD.
that said if you find a silly deal on a 1.6 go for it, just dont pay 3k for one.

i like this one as long as you dont want a show car.
should be small issues to fix and 99/2000s are the best miatas made
I e-mailed the guy with the NB. The low price scares me. I'll just need to find a good deal on a roof.
Or throw some duct tape on it for water repelling purposes and only drive it with the top down.
