Sooo...I blew up my rear differential....Completely my fault, I changed the tranny fluid but not the rear so it had to happen at some point, (12,000 miles overdue when it blew) Anyway, I was wondering if there was anyone with a trailer and a truck and I could borrow their services, to take my car from my house up in Northern Virginia (Tysons Corner) to Harrisonburg. I would of course pay for gas, food and anything else on the trip, also throw in some money/beer/wrench time to someone who would help me out. I just do not have the time to work on the car in NOVA and need it down in harrisonburg. Thanks in advance, timing is VERY FLEXIBLE!!!! Anytime somebody can. Let me know, ill owe someone big time for this.
If you can get a U-HAUL trailer, I'd be happy to tow it with the durango.

Alright ill check, but id rather get somebody's from MM and help them pay off their trailer. Instead of giving 50 bucks to a uhaul shop.
Edit: This is Dj

What happened? How does a rear diff blow? What exactly broke etc etc. Kind of curious. You must be putting down so some numbers

The thing overheated and popped on the highway. Ive done at least 100 launches on that thing and I found out the rear diff fluid was never changed so I think it just overheated and it may have ground some gears.
I am only putting down like 350awhp right now so it was increased wear but definitely shouldnt have blown, I forgot to change the rear diff and transfer case fluid when I put in the clutch so I want to check out my transfer case too.
The durango would do awesome, let me know a day you are free to do it so I can rent the trailer. Thanks man!

What did it sound like when the diff gave up the ghost? Have you taken the thing apart. I would love to see some pics of the carnage.

Hahahaha I would I would but I need to get this car down here so I can start working on it. I am hoping someone would be available tomorrow or the day after or the day after or the day even after that to just take 5 hours of their time or 5 hours of me borrow their truck and go get the car, load it up and get it down here.

DJ, give me a call, maybe we can work something out. I know you'd rather have someone with a trailer, but...
Can't you pull the d-shaft and tow it on a dolley?
1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442
hahaha well I could, and then when my rear locks up or front burns up the center diff ill have some fun.
No, my awd is not like that. You CANNOT put it on a dolley.
Thanks for the idea. I know you just have the durango, thats fine, ill rent a full trailer...

If your driveshaft was disconnected, the front wheels would not be turning, which means the transaxle would not be turning, which means neither your front nor center diffs would be turning, which means no opportunity to burn up.
Your rear diff? Well, it's toast anyway, right? So you could disconnect the sideshafts and hum along. A full trailer would be easier, naturally. Whatever, you can use the durango, just get a hold of me so we can coordinate it.

I know your trying to help, but it would be more work than its worth to disconnect the axles, and thats the problem anyway. I cant break it loose and I dont have the time to fuck with it, I need it down here.
