that car is never going to be put back together. it hit SO hard the cage bowed... there is a BEND in the floor board... the driver side shock tower is "missing" and the floor pan near the pedals is completely destroyed. he is lucky is able to walk.

From what I hear, going into Turn 1 at full speed. . . . . and then found out he had no brakes. Similar to what Brian Shugg experienced a few years back.

I was at Turn 1 when this happened. Initial impact was front left bumper. Secondary impact was drivers side door. He began to brake well before the corner but just lost it. The brake pedal went all the way to the floor with no stopping response. Got to give it to EV though for reacting so damn quickly. John Kearney at Turn 1 definitely knew what he was doing as a flagger.

where was the impact? Did he go into the gravel/sand?
Its more natural to head to the access road when you loose brakes in T1, but I think Id rather go straight into the sand.
I flagged T1 once when a 911 lost his brakes and the sand stopped the car very quickly.

Even if he did there would be no way to repaint it, so it would be a total loss anyway. The stuff cost like $800/qt (yes, quart).

oh i know that much chad... but its cheaper to repaint it something else if you wreck it. i never understood why he took a car like that and "raced" it... its not that its a rare car... its the freaking stupid exotic paint!

the mechanical repairs would be too great... Rich and I bascially said that even if he does bring it back out... God is going to have to repair that car before we'd let it back out on track.

we busted up the politi show... where jim was looking at the car and tony was trying to claim offical business... because spectators were trying to look at the car.

rich and i barged in ... crawled around it a bit... yes we uncovered it... made some notes... and left it for jim and tony to wrap up. we dont even need to see that log book to write it up... neither of us will sign an anual in that car again he needs to pull the parts off of it and scrap it.
