I am looking at buying a 77 Corvette. However in DC it appears that even 29 year old cars need to pass emissions. Any ideas? It's got a custom built LT1 motor with a 4 barrel 600cfm carb. Should I try leaning it out or what? Any other tricks?
yeah but its just an Idle test, im sure youll be fine, if not tell em to tune the carb to where its legal
If you have a VA or MD address get Historic tags
Dont lean it out too much, is it custom built, or custom BUILT?
either way - it should be close to the emissions, if not better, than the original vette had, assuming that it still has all the OE

If you're talking about antique tags, there's a mileage limitation to them.
Karioth, register your car in Harrisonburg or southern VA.

In MD you can get 'Street Rod' tags, no limitations. Oh and nobody checks that in VA, my brother has them on his Mach I

I thought that VA Historic tags were not mileage limited but rather listed as "infrequently driven" or some other vague verbage that basically said if cop sees you passing his morning speed trap 5 days a week he can pull you over for it.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

Historic/antique still doesn't have to go through emissions.

I got my car registered in Harrisonburg, it was easy. No way in fuck that thing did or will pass emissions, so you might want to consider that route too

IIRC historic tags or antique tags can are for cars that can only be driven on the weekend

cops in this area are anal. they will actually pull him over and question him if they see him in a congested area at 8 in the morning (commuting).

So you say its a nice day and you wanted to take the rod into work, the beater is in the shop, I'm taking it to a buddy's after work to do some wreching, get creative man. They'd have to proove you are breaking the law not just b/c they are bored.
Sorry I left out some important details. I am trying to register the car in DC. I called the inspection stations yesterday and they told me I HAD to put antique plates on it (apparently they will not plate 25+ year old cars normally). How friggin stupid is that? I would get it in VA but my lease has expired ... Dang!
they still require emmissions tests for cars that are 25+ years old and have antique plates??? that sounds ridiculous to me.
