Democrats/Republicans unite to fight prosecution

Awesome. The Dems and Pubs finally agree. They don't want to be humilated infront of their constituencies when one of their members is caught on tape for accepting 100K. So now it's settled, the Democrats are every bit as greedy as Republicans, and they too have a "Culture of Corruption." So the real question is, what's going to happen to our beloved leaders?

I honestly don't see where there is any constitutional violation there. They had probably cause, they got warrants, they searched and seized.

If someone is committing a crime they should be subject to the law just like anyone else. I think Congress people are just worried now that if they don't have time to destroy documents and cover things up that they might get taken down too.

but wasnt the whole basis of seperation of powers to be where each branch can police the other branches and vice versa?

It's not a 4th Amendment (search and seizure) constitutional violation that they're claiming but instead a separation of powers issue found under the Articles of the Constitution (which one I forget)....i.e. whether a division of the executive branch can constitutionally "raid" a member of the legislative branch. The constitutional argument is that they cannot.

The constitutional is a smokescreen. The real issue is that my man Jefferson was caught on tape taking a 100k.
