Exactly and the costs when your freshwater one goes bad are nothing compared to the costs if your saltwater one goes bad. That's assuming you just have fish, that doesn't even count if you decide to go reef instead or the truly astronomical costs of a reef/fish one.

very true. i've read of some people who's houses were damaged from Huricane Katrina losing over $15,000 worth of livestock and equipment to flooding.

that being said, if you are really frugal and check classifieds on craigslist and forums very often, you can start a smaller, but equally sweet reef tank on a sub-$300 budget.

I am also quite late to the party, but I'll try to list a few hobbies.

First off, GO SKINS!!!

all the car stuff obviously

I play alot of guitar/bass, we have keyboards and a drum set too but I'm not too good at either of those.

Snowboarding/skiing, I just bought a set of skis last year because I got so bored snowboarding at massanutten. I really like it.

I built a horseshoe pit in our back yard, and I love playing when the weather is nice.

I grew up playing lacrosse pretty much everyday and used to play club before I got really busy and lazy.

I do a lot of roids and lift weights too, hence my muscle bound physique.

I know Im forgetting things, but I dont really care. Hunter out!

Well, John showed me this topic when it first came up, and I'm just now joining the party. Welcome to my life. Wink

My hobbies (quite a few of which I've had to give up for the time being due to my crappy job...):

Since John called me a "full time job", he doesn't get listed here.

Music, of all sorts. I know that I'm technically a professional musician, but it still ranks as a love of mine, and I still classify it as a hobby, as well as an on-the-side profession. Within that category, I take flute lessons from the UVA flute professor and play 2nd flute and picc for the Waynesboro Symphony. I also teach flute and piano.

Cooking. I've cooked pretty much my whole life, and I really do enjoy it. I just wish that I had more time and didn't do most of it as crunch time cooking.

Animals. I love our doggies! I can't believe that I survived as long as I did without little (big) fuzzy dogs running around chewing on everything and drooling all over. I've been around dogs since I was born, basically, and the only break I've had was from when I moved into my apt. in H-Burg until we got Bruce and Maggie. I did have Fern, my little evil rabbit, living in the apt with me, and we got Ivy when we came to C-Ville, but boy I love dogs. Smile I also try to spend as much time as I can at the local no-kill animal shelter here in Fluvanna- Caring for Creatures.

Cars. Yeah, yeah. You guys know. I still love the looks of people who don't really know me when I break out into "car speak". It's great. And, as I've told Matt- we have to be absolutely insane to stand out on grid every track weekend, in the freezing cold and blazing hot... so call me crazy. I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else.

Reading, gardening, interior design, basking under a warm spring sun on a nice breezy day...

And, I'm a self-proclaimed American Idol addict.

Ok since Chan's post was sooo depressing, I'll list my interests as well as some of his that he failed to mention. Unfortunately my interests have been put on hold a bit since studying law is a 30/day job...but here it goes:

Baking - not good for the diet though.

Reading - I love books, and collecting books. I might even open my own bookstore/bakery one day.

Arts 'n Crafts - I like making soap, jewelry; sewing; crocheting.

Wine Tastings- Chan and I like to hit these up when we head home since the ones around ATL cost at least $50 to attend.

White-water Rafting - Ok so Chan and I did this up in North Georgia on the same stretch of river that was used for the 1996 Olympics. We had a blast, and I plan on hitting up the W.Va rivers when we move back this summer.

Music- Chan and I are addicted to Sirius. Also, I started playing classical violin when I was 10 and played in orchestras and symphonies until college. Haven't done much since, but I'd like to get back into this, maybe explore new genres like Bluegrass and Celtic music.

Traveling- Chan and I love to travel, and will finally make our first trip to Europe in 2 weeks. After that, I'd like to hit up Spain and Italy and eventually Austrailia.

Since all the other MM wives have posted I suppose I need to do so too.

- Racquetball- though I'm not very good I really enjoy the work out.

- Soccer- I haven't played in a while but am hoping to join a rec team sooner or later.

- Hiking and camping- I love it, but I haven't had time in the last few years to do either.

- my cats- though I profess to hate them at least once a day.

-Cars- I have always loved cars, probably because my earliest memories of dad were of him in the garage underneath a car.

-Music- I love listening to just about every type of music. Rex and I are also addicted to sirius. I played trombone from like 12-18 years of age. Sometimes I'd like to get back into playing.

- Reading- I love to read, between Rex and I we will definately have to have a library in our home because we have books everywhere.

-Road trips- though lately they seem to just be car pick up adventures.

EDIT: This was Julie, not rex, although we share pretty much the same interests, except I'm too fat to play soccer and I don't like to not take showers so camping's out for me as well.
