is it possible to get paid well doing environmental work? My Dad works for the EPA, and it might just be the government thing, but there ain't any money in it. I don't know a thing about the business world, but since everybody and their mother has an MBA, I wonder how much it makes you stand out as an employee. I guess better to have one than not. And if your company will pay for it, that's just free money. That's my two cents.

Well at this point there really is none. My company has a lot of work but it doesn't seem to trickle down. I mean the people here aren't living all high and mighty here. Maybe I should go into a different field, I don't know.

Emily Wasley. She left ECC last week and now works in Dulles doing urban planning. Her new employer is going to be paying for her graduate school.

What a load of crap. This guy assumes that you quit your job to work on an MBA, and it will cost you $100k. Neither of which are true. He also suggests blogs and podcasts as beneficial to your professional career.... :vomit:
There's nothing in that article that has any bearing on whether you have an MBA or not as far as getting ahead and moving up (i.e. continuing professional development, networking, etc). An MBA will always increase your earning potential, no matter what point your career is in (assuming you are not working for yourself). I have no idea what this guy is arguing.

I applied to UMUC MBA/Masters of Environmental Management program. I can get two masters degrees with 18 additional credits. Never have to step foot in a classroom. Classes for the MBA start 18FEB08.

18 additional credits is a whole year.

The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Honestly a second MBA for one additional year isn't really that bad of a deal if its getting paid for by someone else. I might have missed that part though.
I'm getting ready to *hopefully* go to grad school and at this point and an extra 18 credits (or one year) seems like nothing at all compared to the five or so I'm going to be there, although i'm sure it is a bit different while working.

It's a second masters, not MBA. An MBA is a type of masters degree, not an abbreviation for one.
When you're working full time and going to school, a year is a long time.

I may be relocating soon, and they will probably cover the schooling, but until then I can cover it no problem.

My mistake.
Either way, if its being paid for I don't see what the problem is in going for three years instead of two. I realize it is a lot of work, etc, but if you have the time for it it seems like a good deal to me. Although thats just my take.

It generally takes 3.5 just to get an MBA going part time.

9 credits a semester while working full time?
MBA classes must be easy
