My parents tell me it is the best thing you can get to round out your education. How do y'all feel about a Masters in Business Administration?
It should lead to an almost guaranteed increase in pay no matter what field you are in..

money isn't everything. do you want an mba? is your job offering to pay for it? i'll probably start working towards one in the next few years just to say i have one. i don't have any real use for it now, but i do know i don't want to get my masters in CS.

Not always - the only 'guarantee' for that is if you are in a management position, or a path leading you quickly towards one. It all depends on who you are working for and what their goals are. Your best bet is to wait a few years out of school before getting started - UVA has an accelerated masters program that I've been looking into for a while now. Its 13 months, classes on weekends. I'm just not really looking forward to doubling my student loans in one year 
Its usually a good thing to pursue more eduction, and I'm planning on getting an MBA in the next few years, but in the mean time (next year) i'll be looking to get a PMP certification.

it really depends on what you want to use it for. I'll be looking to go into more of a management position and i would need the Business Expertise to do so. Since CSC is willing to reimburse me for all the expenses on tuition/books for an MBA (as long as i maintain an 3.0) i might do it next fall or the following fall. I'm going to test out the company first. I need to study for the GMAT - which i'm starting and i might take the test in late spring. I'm looking for a course to take to prepare me for the GMAT since most of the material is from HS math and english.
MBA - Must Be Another Useless degree
Unless you go to a top business school, I think an MBA is a waste of time. 98% of the people I know who have an MBA make no more than their colleagues that stayed in the workforce during that two year period. Even a large percentage of those with MBAs acknowledge that they thought it was a waste of time. However,if you can get into Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Princeton, or U.Penn, then go for it. Otherwise the best education you can get is on-the-job experience and work your way up from there.

I'd say that's true for ANY degree from an Ivy League, not just an MBA.

If you want to teach for the rest of your life, go get a number of degrees before work experience.
But I think you should get atleast 2 years work experiance.

What are you missing? Practical experience is essential for you to apply your knowledge prior to tacking on a laundry list of secondary degrees. More commonly do you find people that go through years of consequentive education who can no longer apply themself to a real job. This is rediculous. The overwhelming majority of people in high leadership positions in the corporate world (director+) have some form of secondary degree. It's not necessary... but it can be that extra boost you need to move into the position. Is it worth it to everyone?? No. Lots of people will advance rapidly despite their lack of an Ivy MBA. It depends on what you want to do. Most importantly, don't grab an MBA because mommy and daddy told you it was the way to go.

My uncle is the President and CEO of Bank of Virginia. He has an MBA, but he got work experience first.
I'm all about education, but people who don't get experience first, make themselves less appealing to employers. Case in point, my momÔÇÖs best friend's son has 2 degrees from UVa...and a year out, no job.
Those two examples are anecdotal, but similar examples are the norm.

15+ years ago, an MBA was a respected degree - however, over time it has become extremely diluted and the U.S. business environment has evolved. With everybody much better networked nowadays, companies look at your secondary degrees much less and instead rely on your references and work experience.

I don't think a MBA is needed for what i am doing now
It won't be hard to get what I want.
My coworker is doing a Masters program in Environmental Management and Policy at George Washington and the company is paying for it. The company did not promise her a pay increase upon completion. I was shocked by this.

I was shocked by this. Well she's getting an advanced degree for free, I hope she's not complaining about that. Believe it or not, a lot of companies distribute promotions and pay-raises based on performance, not on a piece of paper that says you sat through a couple semesters of boring-ass classes.

Getting a masters degree does not guarantee increased job performance or a higher ranked position.
What will likely happen is that they will get a higher ranked titled based on the degree, which will mean a higher billing rate to the customer. Pay raises to the employee are based on performance review.
