Go 2dr, not 4. The 4dr is not only slightly heavier, but it messes up the weight distrubution, which as I have learned with the miata is the most important factor in balance and handling. (moreso even than drive wheels)
The biggest drawback to the car is its weight. ~3200 lb at the lightest.
If I ever get one, I plan on gutting it, and doing whatever cheap lightening I can, but even so the car is heavy. Even the M3 LTW was still a hair under 3000lb, and it had aluminum doors and other expensive stuff.

Damn guys if you're gonna be gutting an M3 why not just buy a racecar. It'll cost less, already have a weld-in cage (unless you're stupid like me), and it will be similar in speed. Oh, and you can resell something like an ITS BMW easier than a gutted M3 that doesn't really fit in anywhere except maybe BMWCCA. Then again, I don't know what the market is like on the BMW forums.
I'd buy it for the same purpose as Mike, I think.... A daily driver. I know it's a tough concept guys.... but I probably would use another car :wink: :wink: as my track bitch. A 4door with an extra 20 lbs (according to BMW) would be a great car methinks.
Oh yeah, don't bother saying a 325 would be a better alternative for the street. I have weighed both options and I want an M3
edit: My comments have nothign to do with Jack's post, I just wanted to get that out of me in general. I knew Chan would probably say something sooner or later "Why not save $15k and get a 325?"
