Eh, its 30 minutes from the N. Kensington house and 42 minutes from the S.Arlington house. Farther for sure but not a huge difference. The 3131 Piedmont place is 34 minutes and the 5200 32nd St is 32 minutes.
Guess it depends on how much traffic is on the roads getting onto 66.

that is nearly 50% longer that is like saying the difference between.... a 200hp car and a 300hp car is not a huge difference

Yeah but you're not starting out with a huge number. If it was a 1 hour drive and you were gonna spend an extra half hours, that's a lot. 12 minutes is not a lot. However, I imagine that would balloon during rush hour so that might not be tenable.
The location would be killer for me since I could just bike or ride a moped to work but if that is absolutely untenable for you then no biggie.

I would agree with you for the most part - it is much nicer to be closer in than EFC. A great area with some older homes is on Washington Blvd. between Sycamore and Glebe. Another area to look into is off of Pershing between Glebe and Clarendon.

The one on 32nd St. is only a few blocks away from where I used to live (on the corner of Williamsburg/Little Falls/Sycamore. Great area - however there's a decent amount of traffic on Little Falls so it will be noisier than the one on Piedmont. The Piedmont neighborhood is quite wooded... however, your neighbors may be complain more of the noise you all generate from working on cars and from all the busted piles you leave on the street.
