Im asking for one for x-mas, the powder coating packets cover about 7 sq feet for 5.99 a piece and they have like 20 different colors to choose from.

The sears one is crap, you'll need to refill the container 100 times to do a valve cover because it dosnt hold much powder at all.... You must also remember when powder coating, you need more than a gun, powder, and an oven, theres a lot more associated with the whole process if you want it to come out nice!

The Hotcoat system is cheaper, and looks like better quality, IMHO. Lots of powder available, a big fat powder reservoir, historically proven results, and with an external compressor, your coats should be nice and even. The thing that makes me run away from the Craftsman is the internal air supply.

Oh geez. I mean you're working along, powdercoating your bolts or whatever, and then out of the blue:

I've got one in my basement...and an oven. And a compressor.

I just need all the parts to converge into one location. *sigh* Anyway, it looks very complete, and has an excellent instruction manual. The biggest thing by far is to get any part you're going to p-coat super duper clean, as in clean it, heat it, clean it again.

You're gonna need a big-ass oven to get a motorcycle frame to cure.

I figure the frame all by itself would fit in a household oven.... no swingarm and no lower frame cradle, do those parts separate.

I posted this in the Honda-Tech thread, but you do not want to powdercoat any stressed aluminum parts (ie- wheels)
The high heat, and more specifically, quick heat up and quick cooldown, weakens the aluminum. Many reports of failed (new) wheels just a few track sessions after powder coating.
properly powdercoated wheels are done in very expensive temperature controlled ovens that slowly raise and lower temperature

Of course it is compared to that guys stuff, he owns his own Powdercoating shop..... not to say it wont work for do it yourselfers though
