Rex, have you thought about modding the TDI so it can run off biofuel?

To run on biodiesel absolutely no modifications are needed. Just start with a low concentration. I believe at Liberty the Biodiesel there is 5% diesel and 95% regular diesel.

Maybe I'm defensive.

But it cracks me up when people say the s2k is unbearable around town. It's no slower than a Civic below ~5-6k, which is an ideal "around town" car, IMO anyway. Drop the hammer, and goddamn. The sound is to die for. Is it the fastest thing in the world? No. Far from slow though.

This is not to say I wouldn't like more power down low. But I think I'd miss the high-rpm rush of the F20C.

ahaha are you kidding me? have you ever driven the s2000s, the real ones not the pussy ones with more torque. They are heavier than a civic yet have about the same torque down low. You have to rev em to high and forever, and yers ive driven around civics. My best friend had a civic si that I driove everytime we hung out cuz it got good gas mileage. I like carrs with torque tho so base that on what I say.......anyway it sounds sick at 9000 tho...it is slow for how expensive it is. Isnt it like 6.2 or something or 5.7 with an incredible driver? for 30,000? Ridiculous, when everything in its class is faster. Also with more torque....

he owns one.

so does Mike.

they both own the non-"pussy" versions, and neither of them paid anything close to 30k for them. more like 20, or 18k i think.

you do realize the S2k has superior handling, braking, and everyday drivability compared to the majority of the competition? despite the lack of low end torque, i garuntee you auto-x against one, and you will likely get pummeled. and compared to the competition realistically, the reliability and ease of repair is stellar. it may be "slow" in a straight line, but life isn't just about drag racing.

as for weight....if you think civics are heavy in the first place, then you must ride around in one of those solar powered cars, right?

I really like the s2000, especially white and black ones. I've never driven one but I've only heard good things about it. I don't know how much I'd like the *only* high end power of it, almost like really bad turbo lag from what people say, but I bet it outhandles almost everything in its class like Scotty said.

A Subaru buddy of mine has an S2k as well that he's totally rebuilding into the ultimate "sleeper" (sleeper is subjective in this case heheh). I think I talked about it before, but he did some seriously painstaking weight reduction mods, cams, expensive ass forged / lightweight rims, some kind of reflash I think? and a staged turbo kit. I can't imagine what kind of monstrosity that thing is going to be when it's done.

What was so unbelievable about what I said? I never said it was stupid fast, or had torque, or came anywhere even close to saying it had power down low. What do you think I'm 'kidding' about?

As Scotty pointed out, I own a 'non-pussy' AP1. I've never been driving "around town" and felt like I needed another 100ft/lbs at 3k so I could floor it in a 35mph zone and be happy. I'd like to think that no one here does need that, but it is a fun thing to have. When I wanna have fun, I drop a gear or three and there's plenty of power to make me happy.

Make all the 'all the lag none of the turbo' or 'VTEC is like waiting for bad sex' jokes you want. You'll have to excuse me for not buying the fastest straight line car that I could for $22k.

Alright omg it jst deleted this very nice post I had...oh well...main points

-Wanted an s2000 at first, didnt have enough torque without a supercharger for me at the price, If I had tons of money would have bought it and got a supercharger
-I am not ignorant and would say stupid things like "all of the lag none of the turbo" and also I HAVE autocrossed against s2000s
-Here are my results from one of my autocrosses: http://members.cox.net/capitaldrivingcl ... sults.html
- In this autocross there are no categories so although im in the middle, my car was/still is stock and I was running on shitty tires so I was running very good and was able to beat the s2000s below me because I had enough torque to pull me out of the lowspeed hairpin corner.
-Look at the top of the list, s2000 with supercharger, full suspension, and r-compounds. 75% of the cars on top of me on the list had r-compounds. The s2000 is a sick car for autocross but needs the torque a supercharger can give and no amount of "skill" as you guys seem to shove in my face can make up for no torque in a hairpin corner.
-I also would like to apologize for seeming so offensive towards you guys, im not, but all my friends say I get really offensive when im discussing things....

showing autox results means very little... some drivers suck, some don't. without the same driver it is impossible to say x car is better than y car.

this is very true. hell, last time i autocrossed the accord, some of the better cars i beat were a 350z and 3 corvettes, including a Z06. all i had on my car that was worth anything was a used set of michelin pilots. of course i'm not saying D_Eclipse is a bad driver and the results aren't worth anything, just that it's all relative.

D_Eclipse, i totally understand your points. all i was trying to say is that in the right hands it is a very capable car....more than it's numbers suggest. i think i just took your opinion as bashing the car so i wanted to defend it.

either way, i must say i do love my torque! 235 lb. ft. at 2500 rpm, hehe. i only wish i could have the top end too....

I drove an S2000
I didn't like it.
I was too big of a person to enjoy the car, literally.
That said, it sounded like I was driving a god-damned 4 wheel motorcycle, it was quite a bit of fun, and would probably be a hell of a lot of fun on track (as long as you developed a keen sense of snap oversteer). Granted, it didn't have much sack in the low RPMs, but I haven't seen a Honda that did. Nevertheless, it has enough and more than made up for it when it started to scream. I enjoyed it enough that I will be more than happy to "borrow" Mike's until he realizes that it is missing.

I am not saying my car is anywhere near track-worthy as an s2000, in fact mine is a pig for autocross. I Was just saying that they are not god's gift to autocross and I was explaining the flaw that I found with it...
