And I also dont see you at the racetrack.

Explain to me how a racetrack would be worse than rush hour traffic?

the track is far worse than rush hour for all the reasons stated above. i would equate it to summer rush hour being like walking around in 100 degree heat. summer track sessions are like running full sprint in 100 degree heat. both are hot as balls, but damn, the track tires you out. i ran one session last summer with my A/C on by accident and didnt notice until the cool down lap. my A/C stopped working then, so i cut the belt.

I saw that first picture of the shirt and thought "hey, that's freaking cool, I should buy one for the bike!"

... and then I saw the resivoir and got sad again.

Let us know how it works, though. I still own a car Smile
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

they have small portable units, but they only cool for 1hr.
It works freeking great. I would have died at Summit this weekend w/o the shirt. On Saturday I hooked it up to my batt backup and sat in the chair with it on me it was so goddamn hot.

Im goign to attempt a home-made coolshirt.
Cooler, small pump, hoses, and a beefy-T shirt. With a little help from my roomate who runs a poolcare biz and thus knows all about pumps, and my sis who got some high dolla sewing machine to sew the vinyl tube onto the shirt, hopefully I will have something that works. The hard part is attaching the hoses to the cooler in a quick-release fashion.

If past attempts of my homemade projects (camera mount) have any indication, it will take me 2 or 3 tries for it to be moderately mediocre, and end up costing me more than just buying the real one. Not to mention a shitload of time. Something is wrong with me.
But hey, cant blame a guy for trying.

dont bother with a cooler, its too heavy. just go ahead and tap into the heater core. that fluid is very cold.

evan, i tried making my own cool suit system for a fraction of the cost (and market it if it worked), but i came up short on the quick releases. simply put, they are not easy to find. i was in touch with many local hospital supply warehouses, but none of them wanted anything to do with such a silly idea or to let their products go individually.

Mike, AIM me sometime. Maybe we can hunt down an industrial application for the quick-releases...

i gave up on it... it really is a simple thing though. cheap coolers, cut holes in them, feed the hoses and pump in.... sew the hoses on to a shirt... voila.

not sure about ordering them in small quantities though.

also interesting possibility is adapting a medical cooling system used for people with injuries

That's what the cheap people on corner-carvers have been doing. Most have been getting them off ebay or faking injuries and letting insurance pick up the tab Smile.

Nah, RJ wouldnt fake an injury and get something shiny and new.

He would just pick up a used and busted setup and then tell everyone how its just as good as new. Then after it breaks in 2 weeks, he would go out and buy another used and busted one.
