450.
450!=300
And as far as Standalone vs Manual transmission goes...I guess having lots of power is nice, but I don't like to be told when I can have it.

rx7 trannies are 4000?! holy crap, no wonder people sell these things when they break.
i still want one though
Are you sure it's that expensive to do a swap? I mean, you need all the parts besides the actual tranny but I know you can get used FC TII trannies in the hundreds. Well, my car is still cheap as shit compared to yours... lol... and much slower

going into 10 this red GSR starts going really wide and I thought for sure he was going off, so what do I do in my 2nd event? pass him on the inside!
RJ: ummm did you have a point by?
Me: no... oops just kinda reacted to the situation
RJ: oh alright then

check out the bottom of the page http://www.rotaryshack.com/Engines/UsedEngines.asp. i know some are turbo II trannys but not quite sure what an fd one looks like.
yeah, that's what i thought. they're not too bad.. just a poopload more work than standalone... not knockin that tho...
and Chad... lol...
Well it isn't $4000 for the tranny. You can get a good tranny and rebuild it for a little over $700. Then for the rest of the parts, a new clutch and flywheel, it would be another $1400. Then I can't do it myself, since I have never done anything like that, so I was told $1500 in labor.

Tranny swaps are easy! Unbolt old transmission. Unbolt torque converter. Bolt on flywheel. Install clutch. Install transmission. Bypass park lockout. Drill hole for clutch pedal, install clutch pedal. Done.
Done. If Dave had noticed he'd unplugged the starter, it would have taken us only 2 days to swap the tranny on the 240.

Thought I'd whore up this thread some more with a picture of the fastest car on earth.
And for what it is worth....a manual swap would have been simpler and more effective than switching over to a standalone unless you are running some crazy set up that you didn't feel like telling us about.

so in essence, it would have cost you $2000 and the couple days that you spent becoming more intimate with your car would have been appreciated even more every time you shifted that gear. Wasted your money on that big bad ECU.
Dave Wrote:Wasted your money on that big bad ECU.
now, now. wasted would be if he bought a drag chute and maybe a roof scoop
Calling ita waste of money is harsh. I just can't see that level of control being an absolute need unless there is more to the story. Did you ever mention what was done to your FD and it not what is? Are you going to have it out at our show on April 23rd?

These guys here drive fast around a track...
If you want Fast CARS, come visit the car club at VT. We got lots of strait line guys that are all about power and torque, not suspension and brakes.
Personaly, I care more for suspension and brakes
I feel more like i do now than I did before.
First and foremost..a fast Buick
second..we should have a group dyno day..or rent one for the car show ;x they always draw crowds..charge 5$ a roll or something
edit: oh yeah, sorry I came in late on this thread ;x

Yeah GNXs are ridiculous !!
I've heard tales of one up here in nova with the plates: "9SEC GNX"
Those take mods extremely well from what I hear and are not to be taken lightly on the drag strip.
