Brother got his new Lancer !
#1
Well, not new, but it's a 2002 Lancer OZ Rally Edition. It's an impressive little car despite its lack of horsepower ! Leather seats, decent rims (that are going to get replaced soon =p), etc. We picked it up with 40,000 miles for $7900.

Should be fun to start modding it with him ! We're thinking small stuff like a catback exhaust, rims / tires / springs, CAI, struts / sways to get him started with the mod bug. Tint and system too; he's had a box with two Audiobahn subs with a built in blue LED just sitting in his room for a while =p

I'll get some pics up when I see it again. We might start autocrossing together 8)

he should buy the body kit that makes em look like the real evo.....fool em all.

Yeah, he's debating that as well. I told him it might get him into some trouble though... i.e. people trying to race him, more attention from the fuzz, etc.

I think it would look cool, but I think it would look good too if he got a carbon fiber hood with the EVO scoops for the rice effect. The color of the car is a dark grey, so it wouldn't stand out a whole lot.

I liked that little car when I drove it at the HBG Mitsu dealership. Probably can handle pretty darned well with some springs/shocks, better tires, and a rear swaybar. Oh, and some brake pads...Wink

I totally agree G. He told me he's really interested in improving the way it handles, which is fine by me !

We've been researching a lot of stuff for lancers lately online. Seems like there are quite a few choices for suspension, including a few coilovers made exclusively for this model. From looking at it fast, the brakes look weird though... looks like rotors / calipers in the front and drum brakes in the rear.

One company even makes a piggyback chip for the automatic transmission (yah sucks) NA Lancer to increase horsepower. No clue by how much, but might be a fun upgrade after he gets used to driving more.

good deal Lee, glad to hear you and your bro are going with the team effort on modding up his car. def. a good "chill" way to bond. hope the auto-xing goes well too, that would be a great time.

i like those little cars, even though they aren't very fast. i'm sure he's gonna be sad when he eventually moves on to another car.

that's awesome man, i remember test driving it at the H-burg dealership, the only thing i really didn't like about it were the seats. Other than that the car had some nice pick-up and handled well. Big Grin

It is definitely cool to start off with something that sucks, and make it what you want and better. Wink
