I forgot you suck at working on cars. You could always get a CPO 98-99 M3, then you wouldnt have to work on it.

right, because in 98-99 they didn't have electrical gremlines.

I'll punch anyman in the dick for buying a NA z32. The slowest fast-looking car I can think of. Converting it to TT requires entire TT drivetrain.
Get a G35. It's hot and Asian.

Dumbass. CPO = certified pre owned = warranty = you dont have to work on it.

why? besides the warranty BS and shitty clutch, are they really that bad? its considered to be in the same performance bracket as the STi too, but with less power....that's impressive.
although, considering mitsu's financial situation, who knows.
white97dsm Wrote:asked for an opinion so i gave him one
Haha don't take it personally, he wasn't attacking the fact that you suggested it, he was just attacking the car.
I think the Evo is awesome, but Mitsu kinda F's up the ownership experience with the piss poor dealer network and their weaseling on warranty work. To be fair they haven't ever sold a car like the Evo in the US so its kind of a rough situation for 'em but still, enough to make me not wanna buy one.

The warranty issue wouldnt suck so bad if the cars werent breaking quite a bit - transfer cases, trannies, clutch, shitty interiors, etc... awesome machines, but I couldnt live with it. And then the whole thing with Warren's evo - brake line separated *on track* and he spun under braking and totaled the car. I'm not sure if he's persuing legal action against Mitsu or not.

Yeah, he had bought the car used - the mileage was pretty low on it. He was instructing an audi club event at the Jeffy, braking into turn 7 (? - the one leading off the back 'straight') and one of the brake lines popped at the crimp (banjo bolt still attached to the caliper, line hanging free) and he spun off the track and backed into a tirewall, the car was pretty damn fucked up. He said he wasnt going full tilt, as there was some traffic, so it wasnt as bad as it could've been.

Well if you're talking manufacturer reliability and dealer service then maybe the Acura or Lexus might be a little better. I'd still probably get the M tho.

ok n/m didnt know it was a death trap go with a 350Z same thing as the g35 minus a few pounds, or you could go with a new limited edition mazdaspeed MX6 http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/pdf/spec...cs_MS6.pdf no one woudl expect it.
Specs: turboed 2.3, intercooled, AWD, i think i read it was rated at 280hp

350z is too small. mazdaspeed 6 is too expensive (for 30k that it will cost, i would get something else). looking for 22k or less, used.

Wrong. thats funny, because my coworker who has been into Zs for quite some time, and happens to own a NA Z, agrees that swapping a NA to TT requires an inordinate amount of work and parts, and is not worth it

Don't get me wrong, it is a lot of work and parts, but you do *not* need an entire TT drivetrain. That being said, in my mind, there are three "worthy" swap targets, all to get a result that is otherwise not possible to buy in this country:
NA convertable (no TT 'verts in the US, other than the Strosek conversions)
NA Slicktop (no TT slicktops in the US - body is over 200lbs lighter than t-top)
NA 2+2 (no TT 2+2s in the US - some people like this profile instead of the 2 seater)
If you just have a regular t-top 2-seater NA, then it probably makes more sense to just buy a TT. Reading the FAQ on twinturbo.net will answer a lot of specific questions.
Sorry about the thread hijack
