All this talk about HPDE and Evan's videos  has really got me interested in learning more about it and possibly getting some track time in the future... probably not until next year but still I'd love to read up about it. Is there a good site or link that has a better explanation of what HPDE involves and possibly some prices involved as well... Sorry to be such a newb but I've always wanted to get into tracking.. just never had the opportunity. Thanks guys.

Nice when these things solve themselves
My two feet.
Who said illegal or immature ? It's illegal to break the speed limit, but it doesn't matter how fast you accelerate to get there~ Unless of course, you're lined up next to someone in a racing fashion =p
You can't honestly tell me you've never done something stupid on the highway. Sure, nobody tries to make it a habit. It's a little hypocritical to say that the only intense driving you do is on the track, though. If you commute or have driven on the beltway, you'd know exactly what I'm talking about. I'm personally not one of those people who pulls up to a stoplight and revs my engine like a ricer and tries to race people. But I'm also not the kind of person who would let a riced out integra with just a muffler tip burn me off the line, with the justification being "OMG well wtf evar if we were on teh trackz0r I would kill him lolZ" and then go post about it on a web forum. I have plenty of older / more experienced friends who have exactly the same mentality as me and are willing to push their cars within the boundaries of the speed limit, so you can spare me the bullshit about being more mature.
If it makes you feel better about getting owned on the highway by going out to a track and getting an arbitrary number that's fine. If you go to the track to have fun and push your car, that's ideal and that's where I'd want to be. Please spare me the sewage spouting forth from your fingertips about immature driving though. Not one of us is a perfect driver, every one of us has done stupid shit before, and it's that confidence / cockiness in being a "safe" driver that will make you fuck up.

It's actually because I think some of you are elitest dicks. Maybe if I met you face to face I'd feel differently, but you're certainly not representing yourselves well. I'm not the only one to complain about this. I've had very positive experiences overall with the people I've met in MM, with the exception of a few.

Quit being such a damn dipshit.
I *have* met you face to face, and enjoyed our conversation about WRX's at the Halloween party. But when you come here and spout off about street racing or being fast without ever going to a road course, then you're gonna get slammed. Go back and read your post concerning the "street racing", and you'll see that *you* made a big deal out of it first.
And then when, instead of politely saying "Wow, I'd love to come to an HPDE some time and get into what this club is all about" and leaving it at that, you make a bunch of stupid remarks about how awesome your car is because you beat a modded M3 on the highway, and how you'll roll everyone because you're god's gift to driving. Grow up.
And for the record, my vote for a truck would be a 94+ F-250 of some sort. Easy as hell to work on, beefy drivetrain, parts are everywhere, and you'll fit right in around the 'burg

BTW - Don't mind me, I'm fasting for a doctor's appointment this afternoon, and it's lunchtime here at the office. Makes me angry, not being able to eat.
My two feet.
I'm also not the one who started the negativity and threw the topic off in the first place.
Keep in mind though, just because someone drives a shitty car around a track "fast" doesn't make them the most fantastic driver in the world, nor does it make them faster than me in every setting.
Can we go back to more suggestions on pickup trucks ? Or do we need to keep debating about how big of supAr trAckstArs we are ?
