Bluetooth compression is much, much less harsh (2 Mbps) than the compression used in streaming music (~300Kbps). Sounds like maybe the transmitter or receiver is your problem.
I've always been under the impression BT was the issue. In my current car and previous car there is a noticeable difference in quality, volume, and base between BT or a wired connection. I just plug my phone in for carplay so it's not really an issue.

This is not correct as far as I know. Most phones are pushing ~500 kbps at best.

Theoretical max. Actual is still higher than streaming bitrate.

It's possible there's interference? Not like it matters if you're using CarPlay. I've had some (rental) cars where the bluetooth connection is shit. I haven't had any quality issues in the GTI though.

B&O is not what it used to be but above average in most cars...i think its mostly a name brand upsell feature now. Bowers & Wilkins seems to be the new high water mark for most middle to upper tier cars.

Got the car checked out by Deren at Mach V and got the following bill of health.
The muffler is not ... Right. The pipe in is like 1/2 inch smaller and booger welded. Not sure why Deren says the car is in good shape and everything is straight. Intake and intercooler are aftermarket, looks like it had a front lip at some point AccessPort tune goes on tomorrow and I'll figure out what I want to do about the muffler.

Tune installed. 240 lb-ft of torque on cheap tires = 3rd gear rolling burnouts.

Stage 1 is just an air filter and an engine mount. Throw the tune on and get +35 lb-ft of torque.
I already have an intake and an aftermarket intercooler, so I'm ready for the stage 3 tune which will take me near 300lb-ft. I probably won't do that until I do the engine mount to keep the engine from smacking the firewall with all of that torque.
I have a catback coming tomorrow to fix my janky one I have now and I'll throw the stage 2 tune on and put me around 270ft-lb which will make this by far the fastest car I've owned.

i'd consider what the trans was meant to handle. these little cars with the tightly packed 6 speeds don't have huge gear tooth surfaces or big heavy cases. i don't think chucking more than 150% torque through them is likely a good idea. might want to call it Good at stage 2.
i know its a different car and all, but Si's like mine generally start stripping teeth around 300 lb ft. its not the horsepower necessarily, its a huge slug of torque all at once, even with wheel slip.

Fingers in my ears, screaming so I can't hear you.
The PO traded it in with no rear resonator/muffler. The dealer took it to Midas and they welded on a STOCK FIESTA muffler on. That's at least a half inch smaller than the fiesta st exhaust piping. That had to go.
MBRP catback installed today. I started it after I cut the muffler off and it was the same volume as before. I honestly believe cutting the rear muffler off is a viable exhaust option if you don't mind the drone.
Stage 2 tune installed. AccessPort claims I'm making 235hp and 275lb ft of torque. Stupid fun. Crackles and pops. Too fast. Rolling burnouts if you stomp on third.
Picture of the exhaust now... And the booger welds on the exhaust I pulled off.

Previous owner found me on Facebook and messaged me. It used to look a little different, AKA, stance nation. This was a test car for the BM Spec wing extender, so it's a 1:1 prototype. The front end damage was a deer strike. Yes, the car had a tune before it was traded to the dealer for an ND Miata.

if anything, it being a stanceboi car might comfort me considering that's generally a more show than go type of enthusiast. if it was on r-comps and had cone strikes all over it, i might be more nervous about it.

Yeah the Railliart had a Cobb tune, go pro mount and suspiciously low mileage. It was either a winter beater or dedicated track car. Also picked up it from a place that sold nothing but EVOs and STIs (it was a trade-in), so that thing undoubtedly was very abused before I got it. Would've taken more comfort from a deer strike and stanceboi stuff for sure, that's all reversible.
