Yeah - sucks to see him, go. Though, as you mentioned, not sure what, "real" shot he had. I liked him well enough and at least brought some new blood/ideas.

hoping he has a future in a cabinet position or similar. great ideas but didn't have the wide ranging resume for the diplomatic side of things compared to the competition. always struck me as a genuinely smart dude.

I'm not letting anything slide, just the Democratic primary is the current circus. What's more, Trump isn't running as the "thinking man, logical, scientific" candidate, while the Democrats definitely are.
We expect Trump to say dumb shit, he always has. We don't expect for the Democrats to say that half of America has been shot in the last 13 years. We aren't going to solve the problem of violent tragedy in America by telling outrageous lies about it.

I think they're right about losing the house and I like this move. It's obvious the progressive movement is taking over the party but there are a lot of moderate D that don't want anything to do with Bernie. For example, my wife who has voted D all her life and is from Vermont did not vote Bernie, or any other progressive candidate, in the primary. The DNC is basically saying this is our party, go get your own. It *may* hurt 2020, but it's a long play. They did it with Hilary, they'll probably do it again.
As someone who is really tired of two parties, I welcome a fracture. I was already under the belief Trump was gonna win anyway, so this doesn't actually hurt that much.  Probably an idealist scenario, but I'm going with it!
