do me a HUGE favor and DONT delete the heater core. we can find that 12 lbs somewhere else AND you'll be able to defrost at march and oct/November events.

Chad deleted my heater core years ago... I'm having to add the electric setup to the car... in the long run, not super helpful.

maybe see if you can delete everything but the defrost.

FYI... if I still had a heater core in my car, I would have turned it on when the car started running warmer at VIR... it doesn't just defrost but can help bleed extra heat (at your expense).

I still have my heater core and digital climate control panel. It works well enough to be helpful for defrost and bleeding heat.

I really want to get hot coolant lines away from my body in the cabin. They are currently 3 inches from my leg. Deleting the heater core and fan is also good weight savings but that's not the main goal.

All of the HVAC components are already removed. The blend door didn't work either end I couldn't get air to actually blow out of anywhere when the blower motor was on.

This job took a little longer that I had hoped, but the process was relatively straight forward. I removed the intake, pulled the fuel rail, and removed the hoses from the back of the head to the heater core. I installed a block off plate on the back of the head and deleted the valves that control flow to the heater core. I then removed the coolant hoses that run from the side of the head into the throttle body, then back into the "spider hose" and installed an adapter for my temp sensor in the now empty hole in the head. This is the adapter I used (https://www.bimmerworld.com/Gauges-Data-...apter.html); unfortunately the sender probe from the kit I bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UZ9...UTF8&psc=1 was too wide to slide completely through the adapter so I had to drill it out. Then all I had to do was loop the coolant from from the reservoir to the back of the water pump, which is what the spider hose originally did in addition to routing the throttle body coolant and heater core coolant there. I also took the time to pull the blower motor and then put the motor back together. Topped off the coolant and got her up to temp to test the gauge. The gauge required switched power, of which I had none inside the car after the harness thinning so I tapped it into the relay for my fan switch.

Next up is pulling the dash to finish off the majority of the wire harness thinning and delete the heater core. Then onto sound deadening and my M3 top hats.

Current state of affairs. Thinned a a ton more wire, installed a switch for my wipers and remove the stalk. Also removed the cruise control stalk.

Going to pull fuses and check for hot wires. Those that are hot, I will attempt to depin the connector for them. Not going to try to pull things from the connector back to the fuse box yet.

After that, I'm just waiting on my firewall block off plate from where the heater core was removed and then I'm going to install my m3 top hats and get aligned.

After that, I'm taking a break from spending money on the car. Really backed myself into a hole and need to save some money.

The good news is the car still starts and everything I've checked still works. I'm hoping this will pay dividends later whenever I need to troubleshoot something as the wiring is much more simple now and I know most of it.

Reflective tape on the heater core firewall block off plate. Plate installed with sealant and more tape. Wires trimmed and fuses pulled. Wires that are still hot are heat shrinked and taped. Dash reinstalled.

Swapped my regular strut mounts out for some 95 M3 mounts that give me a supposed 2 or so degrees more negative camber and a bit of positive caster. Tried this a few months ago and found things didn't line up, gave up and went back to stock mounts. Today i did some thinking and decided to trim the upper spring perch to alleviate the issue, which was the upper spring perch was digging into the inside of the shock tower with the new position. Kind of hairy and it could use some more trimming. Hopefully it'll self clearance what is left.

Also found a pretty gnarly crack on my passenger rotor so I switched out my fronts. They made it 6 weekends before cracking. Off to FCPEuro to get them replaced for free under warranty
