Side note: I watched the first episode of The Gymkhana Files on Prime and that was really cool. Awesome behind the scenes story of how Ken Block and his team turned their first Gymkhana video into a viral sensation.
I vastly prefer Top Gear now that shouty mcshouty face is gone. Grand Tour is just too gimicky and focused on the actors and the same dialogue over and over and over and over...ill still watch it.
The Gymkhana files drove me nuts. I have never heard such self-promotion ever. We are awesome, we are VIRAL, WE ARE SICK, WE PUSH IT TO THE LIMITS, BIGGER/FASTER/MORE AWESOME, SHOUTING MORE SHOUTING, KEN BLOCK BEST DRIVA EVER. That was okay for the first 10 minutes, then it rolled on and on and even to the second episode. It felt more like a "self-promotion trailer for 50 minutes" then a behind the scenes take about the cars or the progression and history of Gymkhana.

i never watched Grand Tour after the first season. OG UK Top Gear was one of my all time favorite things on a screen, never missed an episode...but something happened when they moved to GT. it just feels so much more scripted and the dialogue is just tired. i liked "3 blokes mucking about in cars" but this feels a lot more cinematic and like they're checking boxes. i forgot it was even on anymore.
the whole Ken Block / Hoonigan thing has turned into a lifestyle brand that i can't stand. its just feels like its marketed to the same crowd as the Nitro Circus / Tapout / "Send it" kids. just guys screaming about being rad and hyping each other up about stuff other guys have already been doing for years. i love watching cars slide around and jump stuff but this has gotten so corporate it feels like a clinic.

This 100% I forgot either of these shows still existed after I watched my last TGT episode during the first season. I've enjoyed watching Roadkill a lot more, but even that has gotten stale and forced.

The camera work is still great and I thought it was funny how they admitted that the celebrity brain crash was horrible. I loved watching Hasselhoff and (random british guy) hoon the hell out of the F Type through gravel. I will keep watching.

you guys have it completely backwards. the original topgear got boring and monotonous. I stopped watching because it was the same old shit. GT S1 started out a bit stiff but they hit their groove pretty quick and the enormous production budget they had meant plenty of crazy entertaining shit.

I'm not looking for high budget production. I'm looking for fun adventures in cars that don't feel 100% forced and scripted.

The first season kind of sucked but the second season is a lot better and feels much less scripted. The special at the end of the season also really reminds me of the classic Top Gear specials.
Will definitely be watching the new season.

Yeah, I really enjoyed season 2 of Grand Tour and will absolutely be watching S3. I think people who gave up on it after season 1 are missing out. It feels a lot more "right" now compared to the awkward/bad first season.

See, I think Top Gear with Chris Harris captures the same enthusiasm for the cars that Clarkson and Friends seem to be missing. That stupid grin of a new GT3, or Atom or Rolls Royce is missing. "Oh hey we have different things that appeal to us, woah!"

First episode of season 3 was good! Watched it last night. I don't care how weird looking the McLaren Senna is, I want to drive it
I also didn't know that the Dodge Demon came with an extra ECU? I knew it came with a big box full of stuff like skinny tires but why not just have a reprogrammer or have a setting in the menus for race fuel? Seems dumb

So I have been slowly watching the 3rd season. Skipped 1 and 2 as I wasn't really feeling S1 and then had no interest in watching anymore episode until you guys said S3 was pretty good. I just finished the Colombia special. Those were entertaining episodes and actually had me laughing out loud at certain points. When May did an endo in his fiat panda I lost my shit. The bridge they built over Hammond's truck was some of the finest engineering of that crew I've seen in a long time.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
"Hammond's Trump Truck" made me giggle every time they used the phrase. Great episode.

Colombia special was really good! Finished part 2 last night. It also got me thinking I would be interested in a supplemental episode or two of "behind the scenes" that covered some of the details on the logistics, the repairs in the field, what the support crews carry on hand, and so on for some of the more involved excursions.
