We don't have anything around here, except an occasional yellow jacket. I use the wasp poison that shoots 25' with them. Well, rats, but I snap their necks.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

So I sprayed the Talstar about a week ago and it's impressive. There's nothing at our house now. Nothing. No spiders, no crickets, no grasshoppers, butterflies, worms, Jehovah's witnesses, nothing. Found a bunch of dead bugs around the house and in the garage a few days after spraying it. Took the proper precautions with a a respirator, gloves, long clothes and applying on a non-windy day. Only treated the outside of the house and the garage, I don't plan on spraying it inside anywhere.

For anyone that is still packing and moving your own shit, you're fucking crazy.
I close on my old house in 2 weeks and then its time to rip out the kitchen in the new house.
I have to remind myself that I was in my old house for 7 years and I'm not going to be settled in this new place right away, or even in 6 months. I also have no idea what to do with an extra 1000 sq ft + 12x20 garage yet.

We are 6 months in and it still drives my wife nuts that we aren't "settled in". Everything gets unpacked pretty easily. However doing all the artwork, decorating, fans, etc take forever when your wife is completely obsessed with not spending much money to do so and is indecisive.
Almost almost there, got sidetracked with a few projects such as redoing the sound system in the movie room when we discovered that speaker stands were the dumbest idea ever with kids. And my wife saw a pinterest wall and still can't decide what color to do it in (gone back and forth 50x in the past week, I made the executive decision this morning).
And just as we are almost complete? Well the kid's room gets a little colder than the rest of the house, so now we are moving him to another room and moving my office. Yay, filling holes in the wall and touching up that we just did.

Nest has the little temp sensors. We have it to monitor As room and defaults to that sensor at night vs using the thermostat sensor in the hall.
Air hits our room first and we just closed our vents more in our room to allow more air to travel back to her room, which has worked well.
The little sensors have been awesome.
I guess that's one good thing about the electric baseboard heaters we have (individual room temp control). We usually shut off the heat to the upstairs bedrooms we don't use often. The bills aren't nice, but not worth getting a new a/c unit with a heat pump though.
It doesn't help the kids room is above the garage. It's insulated, but not conditioned air.
Time for a mini split......
We had the HVAC company come out and adjust the baffles in the ducts in our attic to improve the temperature equalization upstairs. It was a bit of a trial and error process but before our bedroom (with the upstairs thermostat) was getting most of the air and would cause the Tstat to shut off the system while the rest of the upstairs was either too hot or cold. Now we get a slower release of air in our bedroom and the rest of the upstairs stays at the proper temp.

I tell myself that "this is the last time" moving my own shit but every time it comes time to pay up I can't help but think of all the things I could buy with a few thousand dollars and just do it myself. Fortunately if I move again in the next 5 years it'll be for a job and hopefully will include some for of assistance that takes the decision out of my hands.

So my house is an older style Ranch. Its a small 3 bedrooms, 1 bath. It has baseboard heat, and had no A/C. I used a window unit A/C in my dining room this summer until I decided how to rectify the situation. I ended up with a nice min split system. Its 115k heatpump on the wall in my living room at 1 end of the house. It has kept my house sufficiently warm this fall and those couple of pretty cold days and evenings. I have only used the baseboard this Fall on Friday when our power went out Thursday night and I needed to get the house back up to temp cause I was trying to work from home. The bedrooms temps probably drop to about 66/67 when the heat is set for 70 in the living room. I like it a little cooler in the bedrooms as you can just put another blanket on the bed. I monitored Hannah's room because she sleeps with the door shut primarily. Still only 66 degrees. I've been super pleased with it all told, and recommend it to anyone who cannot use a traditional A/C Furnace or Heatpump Set up.

Your house will never be in better shape than the day you sell it. I realized that awhile ago and just said fuck it, I'm not fixing the little shit that annoys me.

Agreed!
What’s great is it isn’t all high dollar “no work” garages. Lots of real work garages as well with good ideas.
