Turning to the dark side, Show car build
#1
I took a capable autox, track, daily, ect. car and ruined it to my liking.

So you maybe thinking, "Wow this guy must get all the ladies at the Sheetz meet." And you maybe right, but I don't know because I do not go to local gatherings, excluding C&C. I made my car to compete in real car show events. The first of which is VA autofest, which is in the Richmond Flying Squirrels stadium. Unfortunately, this will be my first and last show of the season. I did not make my car this way to roll around looking like a hawt boi, but instead to truly make a car to compete.

What's done to the turd.

2009 Mini John Cooper Works, JCW Brembos, larger turbski and forged internals, with electronic LSD. If you didnt know what came on JCWs.

Wheels: Imported from Japan, Work Schwert SC2 (17×7 +35, +40), Spacers Motorsport hardware billet 15mm on the front, ECS tuning 8mm on the rear, If you care about what cheap tires I put on Nankang NS25 (205/40/r17)
Suspension: Fortune auto 500 coilovers (6k, 4k spring rates), MAXX-G hybrid upper and lower control arms, Alta rear endlinks, Fortune auto front endlinks, Power flex bushings
Performance: M7 Tuning oil catch can, Motorsport hardware stud conversion kit with MH titanium lugs. R1 Concepts drilled and slotted rotors with R1 ceramic pads. And a Resonator delete.

If you want to know camber and clearance here ya go. Fronts: -2.7 with .5in between the tire and fender. Rears: -4.5 tucked with mm of clearance between the tire and the metal that holds the plastic fender on.

What's up next?

I need to get 5in swift springs to drop the front more because they are currently maxxed out and my 7in Fortunes are too long. So I'm going to rebuild all 4, go with swift springs with a 10k spring rate revalve and 8k revalve on the rears. I havent decided whether I want seats and a cage, or if I want to do some performance work, like downpipe, accessport, and tune. But for sure will get the coils rebuilt.

If you have questions ask em, or you have suggestions tell me. Any comments are appreciated, even if you want to tell me how dumb I am for breaking a nice car.[Image: d00fde17d69e78df80ac137828824093.jpg][Image: 2b7d281a57e835a8fd5b788de4f60fee.jpg][Image: 32549907638129dd2f0dcb4f1cb1943e.jpg]

show cars are about details... even the smallest detail is important. Look up some of Blairs old cars.

I'll definitely check them out. I feel like I have a bit of a leg up because not many people make minis into show cars. I really focused on buying the best parts cause people are all about brands unfortunately.

I'll be mostly fiddling with my suspension to get everything perfect. I doubt I'll do crazy body mods, or aero because that's not the look I'm going for. At most an Italian company RSCI6 makes flares that fit directly to the oem plastic, so it doesn't look strange. Just want a very clean looking outside. I want my interior done, cage, harnesses, seats, headliner, etc. And I want some motor work, larger 42mm twin scroll, intake, the normal stuff. Dont want anything too crazy, but to be a really nice looking car.

Basically nothing, I want the Mini Challenge series front aero. But other than that nothing really. This is the look I'm going for. Dont have to be a hot wheels car to look clean af.[Image: c5183c001e683e48c348f8c965446add.jpg]

Any plans for a wire tuck or shaved bay? Are you going to gold plate the turbo housing or hydrodip the valve cover?

I'll die before I wire tuck a mini lol, the engine bay is super clean (excluding a small valve cover leak) anyway. Everything is neat and tidy in the cramped space. If I do decide to get a different turbo, I'll have to do major engine work, so that's where the detail will come into the bay. [Image: dc24bdba5c330abd96179c673972da4c.jpg]

meh. The engine bay looks just as cluttered as any other stock car. Tons of ABS plastic everywhere. Even an intake would help dress it up. This is a turbo motor - I don't see the fattest front mount intercooler on the market...where is it? That's like step 1 in show car mods. Come on man!

If you are trying to win awards you are going to have to address the engine bay and exterior mods. Otherwise, it looks like any other mini lowered with a set of wheels. Exterior mods don't have to be gaudy widebody kits - I'm sure somebody makes a nice front lip, rear valence, or tasteful sideskirts.

What about shaving the amber side markers in the front bumper? Or a chrome delete on the window trim? That can easily be wrapped with black vinyl.

Just my 2 cents.

I think I may keep the chrome for now whole I have the polished wheels. As for intake, intercooler, ect those I should get a tune for. And I am not willing to dyno tune my car with 130k and my only mode of transportation. For sure top priority when I get a daily since the mini over heats easily.

In other words suspension and wheels doesn't make a show car [emoji36][emoji36][emoji36]
