the old isuzu stuff was awesome, on a worldwide scale they were/are a big fish in the truck market and have some really well proven platforms in some of the harshest places in the world. i think back then we got a lot of their worldwide stuff and not the watered down, badge-sharing US market trash that we got later on.

3M/Bondo Restore Black - its a gel & sponge that worked wonders on my faded XJ plastic. After a (very soothing) application, the side cladding was rich....deep.....lustrous black. Highly recommended if your 90's trim is sun-bleached.

Besides looking fuckin' RAD - it's actually a really, really capable off-roader. It wasn't some poseur 90's adventure-chic trash like the Aztek, it actually had serious chops up there with any Jeep or (insert something here) off the showroom floor. Awesome deal on a trackday ready Miata for $8k. The Rotrex SC kit is ~$5k by itself, & the other parts are quality. Wish I could buy it, this would be a hoot.

the market for the old GC chassis imprezas in non-garbage shape has been stupid for years and its getting stupider. about the only thing leveling the market out from going into true absurd stages has been the import rule now allowing people to bring true JDM cars in, and that's now about where the ceiling is.

I pretty much agree with this. You would need to spend crazy money for a nicely done STI drivetrain swap and then you could have purchased a way better car.

The speedlines on this one do look great though.

hahah. I get it, I LOVED the GC8 back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Its what got me into subarus in the first place.

But time has not been kind. Now they just look like old riced out toyota corollas. It doesnt help that Ive driven quite a few and the chassis handles like a tin can full of wet dogshit.

Maybe in 10-20 years they will start looking vintage like old skylines and celicas do now.
