Headlight haze

Here's something new I found out, Eagle One NeverDull Metal Polish is great at getting out the yellow haze common on plastic headlights. My headlights are so purty now.

aw man thats awesome....my fam's minivan's headlights look like ass, and they barely put out any light anymore. i'll have to try that

Scotty, what minivan is that? A Dodge/Chrysler? Their headlights (all of D/C) are known to be awful... They even fail inspection they get so bad...

right on....'96 grand caravan. looks like someone smeared yellow grease on them or something. we've tried putting silverstar bulbs in them with zero improvement.....ah how i hate that POS

It will come back much worse in about a month. The metal polish takes away the protective UV coating on the plastic. Also, if bird crap gets on the lights after you do this it etches the plastic. Been there, done that . If you still feel like doing this, 1500 grit sandpaper works better than metal polish. Just wetsand the lights and wax them afterwards.

I did wax them after the wet sand - wax doesn't block UV rays .

Some wax does block UV rays I think, look around and see.

Has anyone tried that Flitz stuff ? I've seen the commercials for it on TV usually during the Powerblock on Spike TV (best few hours of television ever btw). That stuff is supposed to restore metal and plastic pretty well.

that flitz stuff does look pretty interesting though wetsanding is the best way to go. Unfortunately, it's a pain in the nuts. I have to drop the bumper to get my headlights free. The UV coating is already gone if they're yellowing so I'm just going to keep using the metal polish until it gets real bad, then I'll pull the headlights, wetsand and spray it.

wetsand with 1500-2000 grit sandpaper then use NOVUS glass polish, works wonders from what I've been told.

I used mothers metal polish on mine, followed by wax,looked good for a week, then i gave up. Maybe i should try the sandpaper.

Don't ever put paint thinner on clear plastic. It etches the living shit out of it and makes it look opaque and hazy. I wouldn't do that in a thousand years. Find a small piece of clear plastic and try it for yourself.

I also wanna see DIY black Supra headlight housing.

I'd just take the headlight apart (requires baking it) and remove the lens from the housing and paint it black with some high temp paint.
