Hello all!
You may be familiar with the refrigerator bowls held at Summit Point. This is a very similar style event held at Dominion Raceway, north of Richmond.

I'll be the first event, possibly the 3rd and 4th (my birthday weekend). These seem like really cool events to get a step up from Autocross, not have to work, get 4 times the drive time, and get a small taste of speed. These events are usually pretty fast compared to autocrosses and there's no cones to worry about (Just walls and such at 80 mph).

I'll be there for the 1st event. Driving from Maryland in the early morning if anyone wants to drive down from nova together (Taylor? Zach?)
We can meet along the way if you want. We could meet in Woodbridge.

Ah okay, good to know, it's my first track cross so wasn't sure if it's fine to show up closer to 8am driver's meeting

Felton's email was pretty strongly worded. It's 45 minutes from Sheetz to Dominion? We should probably leave from Sheetz at 6:30 to get to Dominion at 7:15 because we have to put on numbers and do tech and if there is a line then we don't make the drivers meeting at 8 we are out?
Unless, it's generally not a big deal?
Dominion is 35 minutes from that Sheetz.

Takes 15 minutes tops to take out a spare tire and put some numbers on. If we leave from Sheetz at 6:45 - 7 and be fine. The rules and general attitude towards these events is laughably lax. You'll see. I didn't get the email but I'm sure it was the same as all the rest.
Okay cool, sounds good then. I'll show up a few minutes early too eat then
Felton will not let you drive if you don't make the meeting. Ask UTCC drivers.

This was a fun event! Me, Ryan, Matthew, Dave and Justin L, Scott K, and people from all types of different organizations like SCCA, NASA, and PCA were there. It was a nice, mix. The track was very fast and the field was large. We only got three runs in the morning (2 timed) and 5 in the afternoon (4 timed), but our time was thrown off due to a 370z having a roll over and wall impact at the finish line after the course was extended for the later heats.
The course saw me crossing the finish line going into the big esses at ~95 MPH, which is absolutely insane considering you could be an 18 year old with no prior experience in your dad's mustang doing that.
I'll talk about my car in its thread.
Scott was there?
Yes, very fun event. After driving and watching people run, I stand firmly that the event should either require previous track experience or have a ride along with one instructor every few runs or something.
I was running right after the 370z and luckily they at least had a flagger near the finish or I was going to have a good time flying up on a wreck at like 80mph over the blind crest at the esses lol. Hopefully that guy was okay...

Yeah, Scott popped by to watch.
I hope that guy was okay too. Wonder if there is a way to find out.

For a little while, I was toting the 3 month old with me, once the wind picked up we left.
Lots of carnage for an event like this. It looked like to me the finish in the afternoon was in a real poor place, off camber and blind.......
Story on the 370z?

Don't know much. Like I said, the finish line speed was almost 100 mph up a blind crest into the "big esses". Most likely crossed the finish and lifted off the throttle, hit some of the gravel on the track, and oversteered. You could see the tire makes where he went sideways left off the track, hit a hill, impacted the wall, and rolled. The crash was after the timed portion of the track.
