Well, I dont pretend this is all pleasurable, but it keeps me busy with something and by and large the 'project' portion of this car should be wrapped up pretty soon. When I get to suspension, someone else is installing that. I'm scaling back what I'm willing to DIY these days, after 99% DIY on the Audi for 3.5 years and remodeling my house, I'm keeping that for simple jobs and the CB350, but I guess those are the same thing. I see nothing wrong with this. Diy what's enjoyable, outsource for the stuff people get paid to do and have the tools for.
Is the price savings worth the DIY when you're dirty and sweaty every day after work for a week and you're still not sure you did it right?

Sport seats, steering wheel, glacier trim, and weighted ZHP shift knob installed. I'm happy.

I remember test driving e90’s when they were new - the sport/non-sport steering wheels made a shocking difference in how the car felt to be in and use. Trim looks great too!

I cant believe people order these things WITHOUT the sport package. And BMW, fuck you for making it an option. I didnt install the short shifter, gonna see how it feels with just the knob, which is much lower and heavier than the original.
Dropping the car off tomorrow to have the wheels put on. Yes, I'm paying a shop to put wheels on, fight me. I'd like to have the balance checked on them and there's probably some wizardry in pairing the TPMS.
I'm trying to find a performance/t00ner shop that doesnt want to charge me $600 to install the intake manifold and babysit the flash loader. If not I'll just DIY that next.
Justin, you need one of these.

That looks really nice. Reminds me of an E46 a lot. E46 is best interior. This is best interior.

Its the same trim that's in my 135is. I really like it, its got a nice texture to it. Way better than old man wood trim.
I like how clean the interior looks without a nav screen. Fuck I hate those.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

seriously though, pretty baller. that wheel alone is so much better.
also, yes, cleanse your life of giant nav screens. i was lucky to find my Si without that option. its like having an old atari game stuck on the dash in those things.

The F31 we drove it looked like an afterthought. As in, the designers finished the interior and then someone said "hey you morans, you forgot the nav screen!". I still wish you could have bought a manual F30 wagon, or that new cars were so complicated that there's NFW you'd ever be able to swap the gearbox. OH WELL. At least it'll keep the resale on this thing high.

That is how all the infotainment units are in cars these days. It drives me insane. BMW, Mercedes, even Mazda has just started throwing them right on top of the dash. It looks like such an afterthought.

I'm pretty sure it's to keep the nav screen in a reasonable place to look at. If they were below the air vents, they'd be in a dangerous place to be looking at.

Looking good! are those pop out cup holders over the glove box?
At least it's not over the center console.

Sure but they could at least put some thought into it. I mean they did it on the e90s.

Yup.
They're as useless as you think they are - I'm looking for other options but havent arrived at anything useful so far. My 135 has cupholders in the center console, but they're too small to hold my coffee thermos. My A4 handled 2 thermos just fine
Yes, I'm still lamenting the sale of my A4 Avant. Its better that way.
I'd also really like to find a hardwired, magnetic, wireless charging iPhone mount that I can wire into the car and hang off of the dashboard - can someone find this for me? Proclip sells a mount that clips to the dashboard trim, so if I can bolt the charging mount to that and wire it in I'd be happy.

I'm biased, but I think the E90 nav integration is an ugly behemoth. I much prefer the "pop up" look of the F31. The F31 reminds me of those head units that used with the screens that would roll out and flip up. I demand my nav screen be ricer.
(Full disclosure: I use google maps on my phone in the 328 because the nav is pretty bad at predicting best route)
