Stupid odometer. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. I disassembled and cleaned it, but it still doesn't work consistently (ie - my drive to work should be in the neighborhood of 24 miles, but the Z thinks it's anywhere between 5 and 20). None of the used-parts places have the odometer assembly. Ebay is useless. So the Z is getting a brand new odometer from Nissan. 0 miles on the clock, baby!

Couldnt you swap out the whole cluster with a used one with approx the same mileage?

But of course it's specific to a '90TT, and I haven't been able to find one. And anyway, its fairly likely that a different cluster of the same age would have the same problem anyhow.

you can roll the new odometer up to match what the car actually has.

nope. legal requirement is that you don't try to falsify the mileage when selling it. if i were you'd i'd get a pic of the old odometer if you p[lan on rtashing it... just for records sake.

Did that already, before I disassembled it the first time. And I've already got an incorrect-mileage title from the DMV (because I knew it had an issue to begin with).

How long has it been like that? Is it possible that your car has a lot more miles on it than you thought when you bought it?

It is certainly possible - the previous owner had a post on TT.net that the odo started being inconsistent in March of 2004. I bought the car in September. I doubt that it's *way* off, but with the odometers on these cars so easy to fudge, one never knows...

another option (From left field..), If you want to knock out several birds with one stone, you could pick up a Mychron, which has an odo and hours usage. Among other very nice things like laptimes, full array of gauges, data aq, etc. (Which of course comes down to how much you want to spend)
