Quote:battled on the price for 2 hours. went through 4 salesmen and 2 finance officers. i was locked onto this thing like a pitbull. they wouldn't come down enough. had to walk. drove my defeated ass over to a Moe's to drown my tears into a burrito full of saturated fat and then 3 hours home in a flooding storm trying to figure out what to do next. when they call you back at the end of the month, you know what to do.

FIND ANOTHER SI. FIND THE RIGHT ONE. What's the budget for an SI? Still 12-16k? I'mma search the interwebs for ya.

At least you had Moe's, which makes everything better. I've drowned feelings in their queso many a time.
Shame you can't just drive a burrito. Sounds like the new GTIs aren't panning out quite yet?

FIND THE RIGHT ONE haven't given up yet. the test drive went great...i think this car is the right tool for the job. there are nicer cars but its just so good at dual purpose and they just beg to be driven. Jake Wrote:I've drowned feelings in their queso many a time. this is why we're friends. and nah, new mk7 GTI's are basically out and i'm not buying out-of-warranty mk6's, especially with how everyone raves about how much better the 7's have become. the entire reason they were even considered was because i was under the impression VW's current push was 0% AND heavy discount off MSRP, not 0% on standard MSRP OR the discount price with normal APR financing. they're way past the top of my budget, and i like the Shiny New Thing aspect but here's reality: i drive about 4k miles a year. that car is going to sit and just shed money. by the time the warranty runs out in 3 years, it'll be just breaking in. and at that point, i have to deal with German Car Problems™ and the massive depreciation hit will prevent me from ever really having the option of wanting to get rid of it. the other thing that i've thought long and hard about is; if i get a new car, i'm essentially out of motorsports. i can't take on a 3rd car for dedicated motorsports stuff, and co-driving doesn't always work out logistically. i want to do rallycrossing, track days, just generally beat on the car and not feel bad about the financial stress, scratches, cone marks, and filth. that's why the 2.5RS was perfect - it was paid off, reliable, and fun so i could race it but still make it work for a street car around town. i could never rallycross a brand new GTI or deal with the "can you push it off a cliff" logic of track day risks. not that i want to drive a total beater, just not something in the mid 20's and super fresh. again, had this accident not happened and i actually had time to save up a bigger sum for a car in a planned fashion, things might be different.

You did see that CTSV that was stolen for 11g right? You could also drive it like it was stolen and never, ever feel bad.
https://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/d/2...89730.html There are 203 hp, RWD and several thousand dollars why a CTSV is cooler than an SI

It has the newer injectors too so you wouldn't have to worry about those. HPFP's aren't really a problem anymore. The water pump will probably go out between 60-80k though.
Throw a tune and a charge pipe on that and enjoy a ~350whp very comfortable daily driver. My 135i was my favorite daily driver that I've owned. Maybe I should just buy it...

i love you all with the fire of a thousand suns but i'm not driving a stolen CTS-V or a salvage title twin turbo BMW, for many many reasons.
don't waste too much more energy on me. have a car locked down in Raleigh and pending a clean PPI its coming back Friday or Saturday. sorry if you were expecting some kind of 400hp beastmode organ-distorting freakshow that sold for $60k new. its a 200hp honda
