Fragmentation IS a problem but I don't think it's as big a problem as people think. To your GS3 question, I mean, if you bought an Iphone 5 the same year you're fucked now too. Who cares?

I would like to see Google drive some more "pure android experience" to broader manufacturers. Mom has a galaxy s something and I fucking hate that thing. What's with this task switcher, why does it do this other thing, what the fuck, over.

My pixel doesn't do anything really weird. If you want an android you really should buy a Pixel or Moto, forget that touchwiz horse shit.

Hopefully they add wireless charging to the pixel 2 but either way I might just stick with Galaxy. I've never had any major issues with my S5 or S7. Battery life isn't the greatest but I am an extremely heavy user. My dad's S6 kinda sucks mainly because battery. I have vanilla Android on my tablet I think and I think I kind of prefer the galaxy. Granted the tablet is from when I had the S5 but on both of them, I use a Google keyboard because the others both sucked. One of the biggest problems I have with my phone is Google assistant. It messes up alot where it requires a force stop and restart before it will respond to wake up phrases. So I guess that aspect might work better on the pixel but put wireless charging in it. I don't want to get a newer phone and have less features.

Amazon's AI Overlord clearly decided it was time for me to move the Nighthawk X4S from Wish List to Cart so the price dropped $30.00 this morning. This should be here on Tuesday so I will post back with my thoughts: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0192911RA/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I35C59RN38QEEV&colid=2ZWW5EDCUMJJA">https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0192911RA/_e ... The Netgear router that my ISP gave me is throttling our 600meg connection hard. I get 450 at best hardwired through the PS or if I hardwire a laptop..wireless I usually average about 250 down / 250-300 up. About a month ago it also started forcing me into NAT Type 3 on PS which has caused some chat party issues and difficulty teaming up occasionally. The X4S is supposed to be "the best" for gaming and for pretty much any normal residential user so we'll see if it lives up.

I also tried out Amazon's trade in program for the first time with my old TP-LINK router that sat on Craigslist for a few weeks with no bites. In the condition it's in the offer was $25.13, which was only like $15 off from what I had it listed for on CL. We'll see if they "grade" it the same that I do.

450, 250, 300... you're talking mbps (megabits per second)? That should be enough to sustain multiple 4K video streams but it cannot handle chat? Either I'm misunderstanding the #'s, you have a latency/reliability problem and not a throughput problem, or whatever game you're playing is totally insane and the chat client is running The Matrix in the background.

No it's not the speed it's the NAT Type 3 issue that's causing the chat problems. I've tried manually opening the ports needed for both Bungie.net and PlayStation but its still not working. The only other way to fix it is you change to a static IP and i don't want to do that.

Ya that's all in mbps. My issue with the speed is that I'm not getting what I'm paying for on both hardwire and wireless

Damn, I wish I had 600 mbps down. Would make my Facebooking that much more efficient.

Good luck with the new router, Lee. I was having big speed loss last year (had an old AirPort Extreme that supported 802.11n but was many years old) and upgrading to a new router fixed it all immediately. I think I have a Netgear, it's got like 5 antennas and is zippy.

Walking around Costco the other day and I think whenever it's time for a new TV, I'll get it there and get the Costco credit card at the same time. Not sure if it'll still be a thing by then but Costco offers free 2 year warranties but they do another 2 years if you buy it on the Costco Visa. I don't see how you could go wrong with a 4 year warranty. I'd have no worries buying the Vizio in that case.

I don't notice it being that fantastic in the store (the screen was actually off last time I was in there and I'm sure none of the settings are the same from TV to TV on display but CNET raves about the picture quality on the Vizio so :?:

I rarely click on this thread but I see you all were pooping on Samsung phones so I'll join in and share what I did about Samsung phones. I was in the same boat of loving them and was strictly a Samsung bro but was also fed up with the seemingly one year life span. Before that it was HTC and had the very same thought. I was under the impression all phones more or less lasted a year then started going downhill. Well maybe 5 months after I bought my fancy Samsung 6(? Yes I think it was a 6) I dropped it in water and phone dead. I didn't know what I wanted to get next so I shopped the market and decided if they all keep dying in a year I'm not gonna buy expensive ass flagship anymore. So around this time last year I bought one of these <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/honor-8-1326693/review">http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones ... 693/review</a><!-- m -->

Honestly this is the best phone I've ever had. It has a few intricacies mainly with permissions, notifications and battery savings settings that you have to take the time to sit, understand and set how you want it but after you do that the phone is butter. Alot of people complain about Huawei skin emui (although i ran a system update that changed it recently can't remember what it's called) but I actually really like it. It's very straight forward. It's got plenty of storage and I can use an SD card which keeps it running smooth. The camera is great but obviously not the best like the new stuff but again no complaints, no glitching ever, not even now, finger print scanner is as fast as day 1, I have case on it so the glass is protected and the phone is overall strong I've dropped it 1million times. I actually didn't realize until the pixel came out but they look the same. Kinda funny. It's 1 year and it's an Android phone that hasn't given me any software issues and work perfectly the same way it did one day 1 and it has more features and connectivity than I can use. In January I'll probably look and see what else they've got coming out next year. Never thought the Chinese brand phone would be this great. Paid $300 for it last year. I'm satisfied enough to go for round 2 with a slightly more expensive one of theirs next year. Im probably never gonna go back to Samsung and if I want a flagship mainstream deal, definitely the pixel, but as of right now I see no reason to.

Ooohhh this reminds me I was using an old phone I had laying around (I think it was an old htc) in between when my Samsung died and before I bought the honor 8 and I was visiting joey and the phone died up there so he let me use one of his old ones that was still recently new and it was that that had sealed the deal 100% to try something different. I think it was an LG but not sure, it had an amazing camera but fuck the usability, ergonomics, the software was just terrible and atrocious. The battery life sucked ass (Joey kept 2 spare batteries and a remote charger to charge spare wtf) and the entire thing in my opinion was just counter intuitive. I lasted a week with that and bought the Huawei. I was convinced all of the mainstream shit were scams at that point.

No offense Joey, you saved my communication life that weekend, thank yooouuu <3

That's another thing, fast charging and endless battery life on the honor 8 I love it so much. The USB type c can be limiting to borrow a charger on the fly if I'm sleeping over somewhere but I just went to 5 below and bought extras. So I keep 2 in the car and 2 in the house. So I always have a cord for myself. It's great though.

Sans sale, they seem to be pretty much the same at least with the Vizio. They have last year's model for $200 less than Vizio lists it for and I've seen them on sale before. I'm not sure about the other brands cause I'm not seriously looking right now.

One thing I'm pretty annoyed about is somewhat misleading or spec omittence from TVs. And this is all manufacturers. It's really difficult to find the detailed specs on most TVs and the product lines are so close on specs but so far on price. I think Samsung is even worse because more lines but for example, Vizio. The m series is the middle of road product line and is 4k HDR, x number of dimming zones (which is hard to find depending on which retailer) but a big thing that is usually absent from overview and sometimes even specs is that only one of its HDMI ports supports it's capabilities. Now the p series is like $500 more but has more dimming zones and all but one of its ports is the needed HDMI format. But even that isn't really advertised.

Most of the time they don't even list which series it is in ads or sales. I mean I obviously get it's to reel you in and then if you talk to a salesperson (which isn't really even a thing anymore) they'll try to upsell you. Or alternatively, the average buyer who doesn't know or research see a a big ass TV for a small price (relatively) and thinks they're getting a steal but really they're getting some piece of shit that was outdated a year before they even bought it.

Rabble. Rabble. Rabble.

You guys care too much about the specs on these TVs. Find one that's a good deal, picture looks good, and has a good number of HDMI ports and buy it already. The technology is so good these days all big name brands look pretty damn good.

Yea I'm not as worried about the picture specs but you kinda just made my point. If you buy the cheaper product line, you don't get a good number of ports. You get one because the rest aren't up to the specs of the TV.

This will change now that the latest samsung has USB c.

But snag a few of these and put them on your key ring or similar brand.

I'm with Jon, it's way too easy to overanalyze audio visual equipment in general. My TV is nearly 5 years old at this point and it's still crisp and stunning. IMO you go to Best Buy, see what is good and reasonably priced and then look for an open box item or find it on Amazon

Also, I've got the Nighthawk X4S up and running and this thing absolutely rips so far. Wireless speeds instantly jumped about 100mb/s pretty much across the house and I was across the cul de sac having a cigar with my buddy the other night and still getting two bars of wifi from my house!

Wired speeds seem to be where they should be via laptop tests, although I am still getting NAT3 and intermittent download low spikes and poor connections to PSN while hardwired. I went through every scenario imaginable via the router settings and manual connection settings on the PS4 and still no luck. I have a feeling it could either be something on the PS server sides (there is word that they throttle connections due to below average server capacities and infrastructure) or something on my ISP side. I'm going to call ISP today and see what they say, but one thing I was also told was that PS4s are prone to overheating which causes lag and sometimes connection performance issues. I've got my PS4 in a little media alcove with an exposed back but it's fairly confined in there, so I dug up an old USB Rosewill laptop cooler pad with fans and wired it up to come on when the PS4 comes on. It seemed to make a noticeable difference in the overall temp of the unit but I don't know if it will change the game or not. Also interesting to note, you can "rebuild" the PS4s database manually, I guess it's similar to defragmenting your hard drive. A buddy showed me how to do it in PS4 safe mode, let me know if you guys are ever curious and I'll shoot you a note on how to do it.

But as far as the Nighthawk router goes I have never had a more stable wifi connection on any router ever. Highly recommend!
