Right now, my girlfriend and I have been playing through skyrim. It's her first time playing it and shes fairly addicted.
I keep trying to talk mine into starting a character. She enjoys FPS games but gets super flustered and stressed by the pace of COD-like games. I think the slower pace and pause-and-use-some-health-potions-at-anytime nature of Skyrim would really appeal to her.

If you had some people to roll around with I'm sure you would play it more online. Was on sale at the Microsoft store for $40 over the past weekend so I decided to pick it up. Along with Need for Speed since it was only $10.
Just came in here to say I'm playing BF1 and have died every ~15 seconds for the last 10 minutes. Spawned right in front of enemies, and in fire. Just got bombed by the Bristol attack plane while spawning, and the armored train killed me from across the map earlier (Sinai). Got blown up by the artillery truck in the middle of clubbing a dude (kill didn't finish), and there is always someone behind me. If I camp, I die, if I move, I die. I rode the motorcycle out to the corner of the map just to look at it and someone was there to kill me. Still can't quit this game - the M1903 Experimental is pretty boss.
Dude you have to upload a video clip of that, it sounds hilarious
Also why a lot of people are afraid to play FPS's like that

Here's some of my earlier motorcycle fails. Moto vs. tankgewehr (I think this gun is bipod mounted/prone deployed)

The problem is I don't know that many people that play on PC anymore. I think Forza PC and Xbox players can play together on this one though. I haven't looked into it much, but I think that's one of the things Microsoft was promising.

If you're just starting, try starting on a less chaotic game mode like domination until you get your feet wet. It took me a while to adapt to this game before I was any good since I was coming from games like counter strike where everything is a lot more precise.

I finally got Overwatch since I'll have some time off in the next couple weeks. So far I'm having a ton of fun with this game and I haven't played even a quarter of the available heroes. Each hero has a completely different play style so there's a lot of variety with how you can go about any particular match.
One of the things that I was worried about with all of the special abilities is that this game would be way too chaotic and spammy, but that isn't the case at all. In contrast to Battlefield 1, I don't feel like my deaths are "cheap" and I'm not frustrated with the game all the time. I'm betting I will end up getting a lot of hours out of this game.

An improvement over what was already one of the best FPS ever made. It's my preferred online multilayer. The campaign is entertaining enough, but has too much wall running for my taste. It does give some decent backstory that's mildly reminiscent of Starship Troopers, the book.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

just so you know, this pushed me over the edge. Got the last copy of the Deluxe edition at costco for 40 bucks. Zero Regrets, wow. it really is a great game. SP campaign seems excellent, and the multiplayer holy balls, it's balanced, there's more than one way to skin a cat, even the dominant meta is still easily counterable if you don't suck out loud.
Hey Bungie, you fucks, go look at how TF2 does weapon balance instead of nerfing fusion rifles into the goddam shadow realm.

So! I finally got a new headset that's not a busted old Turtle Beach single ear I got for free with Gamestop points. There are so many mid and high end gaming headphones out there but I really had my eye on the Playstation Platinum ones that finally released this week. A Gamestop rewards coupon, a few old traded in games and a gift card bought this for me for free, but it's $160 on Amazon (still not available there yet) or Gamestop: http://www.gamestop.com/ps4/accessories ... set/135986
I was hesitant in the past to use a two ear headset because hearing voices coming out of the same place as game sounds was really disorienting for me. I must have just had bad experience with some other headphones because my buddy brought over the PS Gold headset and a Cloud HyperX he was testing. I liked that I could hear things I had never heard in the game before.
This thing is pretty incredible. MUCH sturdier and more well built than the Gold variants....the top strap is actually made of metal, it has a nice thick rubber inner cushion band and the earpads can be replaced if they get worn out, etc. You can tweak and load sound profiles like you could on the Gold set, although it is only supported by 3 games right now. But the biggest reason I bought it was for the oversized drivers and 7.1 surround / 3D sound capability. This should "future proof" them for a while as more games come out with 3D sound capability, they also work with Playstation VR.
Being able to hear sounds above and below you is sick! I played with them for about 4-5 hour straight until about 2AM last night getting sweaty in the crucible and I didn't have any discomfort at all. It did take a while to adjust the chat and game volumes to what made sense for me, but wow what a difference. Battery life is supposed to be about 12 hours which is pretty incredible, but I did recently buy a 10' micro USB cable that stretches from my PS4 to my couch gaming spot so I'm not really worried about running low on battery. The only drawback I can see so far is that they are pretty bulky so I probably won't travel with these. They also don't have a ton of noise cancellation other than for the microphone, which for me is a positive (ie I want to hear my wife if she needs me) but for some might be a drawback.
So having only a few other points of comparison, I have to say I am really impressed with these and being sold by Sony they are pretty much instant plug and play with the PS4. I do wish it came with some kind of stand, especially if it had charging capability, but for now it will set next to my controller on the couch A+ would recommend

For anyone that cares about computer nerd shit, I ended up buying an old GTX 570 off ebay for 30 bucks and a hyper 212 evo for cooling. With that setup I was able to overclock the old Intel e7400 from 2.8ghz to 3.8ghz. I think I can get it up to 4.0ghz if I mess with it a little more, but I'm happy that it seems to be stable at that speed. I'm 100% new to overclocking so I'm sure someone that knew what they were doing better wouldn't have any problem. The CPU temps during a stress test don't get above mid 50's Celsius so I have some room to work there.
With that setup I was able to run Diablo 3 around 120-130 fps on mid high settings and Overwatch around 50-60 fps on medium. Overall, not a bad way to breath some life into a 7ish year old PC. I doubt it will play battlefield or anything, but it's a hell of an upgrade for my girlfriend over her laptop. That thing could barely run Diablo 2.

The new Zelda game comes out tomorrow. I'm on call this weekend so I know what I'll be doing. It's been a long time since I was as excited for a game as this.

The new Zelda game is so good. I've probably got close to 20 hours in it so far and I haven't even gotten anywhere close to exploring most of the world yet. If any of you have a Wii U or Switch and haven't picked this up yet, you're really missing out. Definitely one of the best single player games I've played in a while.
