Hey, just getting comfortable with the gun is more important than hitting anything the first time you go. But yeah, I was pretty pissed at myself for forgetting that front sight tool.
You can definitely get into shooting for cheap, but it's hard to stay in that same bracket. A .380 will cost you a couple hundred bucks, but after a handful or more of range trips, you start to think, "man, a bigger caliber, larger mag Glock is only a few hundred more..." and then the list goes on and on. It's more addictive than crack. So like I said, guns are like boats. It's good to have friends with one, just provide gas/ammo.

Yep, and then you have more guns than safe and your wife goes "WTF where did this come from" when she goes into the safe for something.
Also, different than boats, if you are smart with your purchases you aren't likely to lose much money on firearms.

So, I kinda want to buy this. I could say it's for my kid, but it's actually to shoot rats (yes, rats) that raid my bird feeder.

For you bug-out-ers, I'm not a HUGE fan of the Ruger takedown 10/22 but more from prejudice against such designs than any real technical issue.
However,

The new Magpul X22 Backpacker Stock (and optic mount) are a no-brainer for you guys. Seems a very compact and well-thought-out system, which is no surprise coming from the Magpul design crew.

Sort of want....
Also been kicking around the idea of a bolt action.
Kinda want a Rem 700 in I think 308, cause cool Magpul shit

I mean, the Magpul hunter stocks are super dope. .308 is really common and relatively cheap, but you do need to ask yourself what the "application" is. If it's for hunting, .308 is a decent all-arounder but not the best. If it's for long range shooting, there are way better cartridges for that job. if it's "just to have" then, you know, whatever knock yourself out. but the Hunter stock is available for long actions now as well, so nothing's stopping you from a 300WinMag ...

I don't like the floating barrel with a fulcrum right in the middle. Seems like a good way to damage it.
A rat has been eating my suet cake and the wife said I should shoot the thing with a bb gun. So, I bought one.

I'm a basic bitch of the gun world. Just bought a G19 for winter concealed carry and range shooting. Probably going to buy a G43 or maybe the new Shield when it comes out for the summer months when I'm not wearing as baggy clothing.
Anyone know of any ranges open around Harrisonburg in the months that the national Forest ranges aren't open?

If you shoot Glocks ok there's nothing wrong with a G19. They just don't shoot well for me.
The indoor range, AFAIK, is closed. I don't know of anything else besides my club, although I'm sure there's something out there.

I wanna talk for a second about my most favorite "skunk works" project in the Gun World:
The Silencerco Maxim9:
Sci-Fi chic, no? Looks like some shit you'd have in a drop leg holster if you were shot from orbit, amirite? Well it's an integrally suppressed 9mm pistol, which is why it looks goofy.
It's got an RMR cutout in the non-reciprocating suppressor:
AND a provision for mounting keymod accessories (or industrial shelving, I guess) to the bottom:
It's also modular, so it can be shorter and louder, or longer and quieter:
If the hearing protection act passes I'll have one of these on order TOMORROW. Hell, I might anyway, depending on final price. If it's less than 1500 bucks, it's a no-brainer in my book. (Say 700-800 for an RMR cut glock + 500 dollar suppressor?)
At any rate, it's super cool.

That does look like something you would see in the Matrix or Men in Black. Also +1 for great use of an Archer gif.

Apparently it's roller locked? I had expected a drop block like a Beretta or P38 but roller locks make way more sense.
Aaaaaaaaand no one knows what I'm talking about.

nope, but hasn't stopped me from being pissed I don't have the thing I just found out existed.
Some people buy cars because they are a pretty color, so it's ok for me to get one because I'll look like Judge Dredd and not fully appreciate how awesome it is, right?
Sure. It's like Car X has a fancy 8 speed auto but Car Y has a PDK. 99% of people give zero fucks, they just want two pedals.
In this case, sure, go ahead and lust away, it's super cool, that's why I posted it. You don't have to care about the particulars of why it's super cool, "This gun looks super cool and is also a real gun" is more than enough reason to like it.
it's not a good reason to like a BAD gun, but it's a fine reason to like a decent one. :dunno:

It's neat. If the HOA passes, SiCo will have a license to print money.
MSRP just dropped, $1500, called it.

This is admittedly 70% of the reason why I'd want a 1911, b/c how they look with an Osprey hanging off of them.

Well now I'm all hot and bothered. Hopefully it becomes easier to get suppresors because I need one of those for my 1911 now.

Yes. The H9 is an absurd $1147 MSRP.
The BRNO FK is $dumb. #pretty but $dumb.
