In what way are you amused? You don't see people's concerns about her presidency? Her disastrous tenure as Secretary of State? Her poor health? Her reckless handling of sensitive information? Her meddling in the primary election? Her blatant disregard for civil rights?

McMullin or Johnson.

McMullin is cool with same-sex marriage and against abortion which agrees with me pretty well. McMullin also seems to break from the typical pubs in his approach to things like not treating minor drug crimes as felonies and a more "helping hand" approach to help folks move up economically. Certainly not perfect, but seems to move the Republican needle left. And really, I'm already over-thinking a guy who is going to get about 127 votes.

But wanting a third party to pressure the other parties is definitely more important now. I too was hoping the pubs would move left socially and they didn't. There is no hope for them without a clear message and some pressure.

At the end of the day, I'll need to trust the system Sad that we won't be ruined by either a Trump or Hillary presidency, as Johnson says, "we're not electing a dictator" (hopefully).

If she's elected, things will at worst stay the same and at best get better. And I don't see the current state of affairs as "doom and gloom" even though Obama has, to some, been The Worst Ever.

Every time someone brings up the email thing, I wonder why they don't seem to care about the W Bush administration deleting millions of emails. "But it was years ago!" is not an excuse. She is not the only one who has misused servers and emails, yet she is the only one people care about.

Where do you see a blatant disregard for civil rights, Rex? I'm guessing you'll use that to bring the 2nd Amendment to the forefront, never mind the many other rights that Donald and his cronies believe should be taken away.

Is GW running for president again and I didn't know it? Should a blind eye be turned to reckless handling of data? My issue isn't deletion, per se. It's that she configured a system to specifically avoid FOIA requests, and then used that system to funnel (potentially) classified data, lied about it, then pretended it wasn't a big deal. You bring up the Bush email thing but HEADS ROLLED for that. It's why AG Gonzales lost his job, along with dozens others. Further, there's no evidence GW himself had anything directly to do with it, though HRC used this server on the reg. It's true she's not the only one who has mishandled data, but does that mean it should be ignored? Dismissed? I guess you're right, at this point what difference does it make?

That is true, that is one civil right she has no regard for, despite claiming to the contrary. However, as recently as 2013, Hillary has been against same sex marriage, which is presumably something you care about. She wants to dismantle encryption algorithms and essentially criminalize privacy. Is privacy in your communication something you value? Hillary doesn't.

Hillary and Obama have been playing the political calculus on LGBT rights. Now that the social winds have changed they're openly for it, but 10 years ago neither of them were champions for the cause. Still, today the party that is attempting to fight LGBT rights is largely the GOP.

The encroaching surveillance state is an issue I don't have confidence either Democrats or Republicans will roll back. On that issue I think the Libertarian party is a clear winner. But who knows, maybe all of these email hacks and data dumps will convince the powers that be how dangerous it is when no one is secure, especially considering that foreign actors are aggressively hacking us 24-7.

Good thing is, it's now 2016 and her position has changed, and she's not campaigning on the premise of taking that hard-fought right away. Everything I've heard about her stance on gun control doesn't seem out of line to me, but I don't own a Megatron 3000 nor do I think The Government is about to come knocking at my door asking me to hand it over.

I was raised with the view that anything put on the internet was not 100% private, and I took that to mean "including private communications." Am I concerned about security and privacy? Of course. But I also use Google's services every damn day, knowing that they can and do index my communications for the sake of ad revenue, AI and who knows what else. Fine, if you want to see emails from Bimmerworld and Xtube, go for it.

We know Hillary's "evils" yet Trump's are a lot more of wild card. Hence, one is a terrifying pig of a man and the other is at least a known entity that rubs some people the wrong way. I would be amazed if anyone with a wife, daughter, step-daughter, etc could consider supporting him given what's been exposed recently.

But then again, I'm amazed by a lot of things.

It's Friday, I'm outta here.

I don't disagree. What I said was that she had a blatant disregard for civil rights. She does. That she even "plays political calculus" with an individual right should be cause enough for someone to "be concerned", and not have it be some crazy idea that Hillary would be a shitty president. Not that Le Donaldo wouldn't be a shitty or even SHITTY-ER president. Aint' what I said. Just pointing out there are things to worry about with a HRC presidency.

(Which is, I might add, a thing I made peace with when i called it in 2009.)

Hey me too, I usually don't bother making a choice more than a week or so before the election, so as to insulate myself to advertising and funding differences. :dunno: I think Wacka Flocka Flame and Ric Flair have some good points, though I am concerned on their stance on gender equality.

Do you think Republicans legitimately cared about women's suffrage / voting rights back in the 19teens? (Boardwalk Empire put kind of a funny highlight on this) Political parties and politicians "change their views" to cement votes, plain and simple. Politicians don't suddenly change their beliefs or stance leading up to election years because it's "the right thing to do." As a white, straight male I haven't experienced oppression in my life but not leading a voting decision with my social views I believe gives a more pragmatic ability to judge whether someone is qualified and competent to lead our country (ie. handle a diverse, complex list of tasks). And believe me, I have a lot of deeply ingrained social views that are very important to me and how I will raise my family.

Please don't elect someone because recently they decided to believe in X, Y and Z, and X, Y, and Z are just like, so super important to me and my existence. Look at their historical track record, their trustworthiness and who they plan to surround themselves with to help them rule this country. Neither of the two top candidates offers a valid solution when viewed through this lens.

My friend brought up a point I don't know how to combat. I'm not experienced like you guys I don't know where to begin to decipher all this information and what to trust but he said something that made sense to me. Maybe one of you guys have a counter argument "who cares what they actually believe, what matters is whether or not a politician hears what the people want and give them what they want, I don't care if Hillary scalds her own children for being gay but she sure as hell isn't gonna let the government scorn my kids for being gay, black, immigrant, Hispanic, old, poor, Christian, Muslim, Hindu you get the idea"

Also, I suppose I don't fall into the category of having my mind made up but I'm learning alot. So keep going. I don't know how you guys even know where to begin with the amount of information that is out there, I'm definitely benefiting.
