I never said it was dead... I was just commenting that Nationals wanted something for nothing.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
So LONG overdue for an update here… some of the facebook peoples will remember these pictures.
Headgasket went boom… so I went with refreshing a used head (bad idea), while I wait for the right parts (time serts, but with weird bolt lengths I’ve had to order several times to get it right) I decided to play with some DIY aero. I’m 99% sure the front splitter is going to rub all over the ground
Anyway… here we go. Lots of heat problems across the honda community lately (plus I like gold) SO… I am foiling my fuel system and my non flexible intake parts. Pimp’n aint easy.
Advantage wife… it helps being tiny.
I didn’t know this…but the used head I got to help speed up the process slowed me down. 3 of the cam bolts were stripped… so I ordered a time sert kit… the bolts that stripped are two different bolt sizes (lengths) AND in 3 different casting areas on the head. So that means I had to place 3 different time sert orders (I’m new to this crap anyway). Its still not done… probably tomorrow or Sunday I’ll get it done… I’m pretty sure I’m going to screw it up so I’m stalling.
Setting things up to add aero. Basically a front splitter (I <3 front traction) and a rear wing (I need to carry more speed in the fast corners)… I got my hands on an old RTR wing from HPM and started laying it all out. On the hatch, to the base plates, to the uprights (I need a TIG welder)… I’ll know more after the welding, but I’m only deflected 1/32nd of an inch (measured with a plum bob)… I’ll count that as a win.
Yes I know its upside down….
I’m 99% sure this is going to get rubbed off with all my body roll (burn visa on shocks that can take more spring rate… one day)
It looks like a lot of lip….
And then you put the lip in there to fill the gap…
I still want to build the radiator ducting… hopefully it only takes one full day… i wish I still had access to my old sheet metal shop. It would make life SO much easier. Tongs and pop rivets will have to do… and my tailgate has been an “okay” lay out table

I love me some organic composite aero. Green AF.

are you going to need to run cables from the splitter to the bumper beam to keep it from deforming? i have no idea how much downforce that could make but i always see those stabilizing cables in those situations.

i dont think the lip will make enough downforce to need it. the rules say it cant be larger than the front bumper when viewed from above. and with that "gap filler" there isnt a ton of high pressure zone. if i need it, i'll add it... but i've got the whole front end basically on quick disconnect. cables would slow me down

I'd be more concerned with it ripping off and going bananas on the underside of your car at speed.

You want them to rip off before causing damage to whatever its bolted to.

That makes sense, but I was talking about ripping off under normal load. Maybe I'm just assuming there are more forces acting upon it than there really will be.
6 elevator bolts (small) in pine board with aluminum mounts. Going off track is going to mess up my splitter but not my car.

Chassis mount it to your crash bar. No balls

Don't bother if you want to keep it HC legal. Just talked with the big boss mang about it since I wanted to seal off the gaps on the sides of the radiator, but was told "no-go".
Are you thinking of painting the wood with some fire retardant material just to be safe?

well crap... i guess i didnt pay too much for that aluminum. at least i can scratch it off my list lol.

I'm going to cut out around the wrapped header and i might put some reflective stuff on the wood. i'm pretty sure i'll be okay.
