I would love to! However it appears this was 2 weeks ago?

It was, not sure if it'll be Asheville again next year or not though. Word on the street is the in-laws are retiring this summer and might move down here in a year, so I'm hopeful it'll work out for me to go if they can babysit.

Check out the FB page for it if you haven't already. So many nice things.

rubber section of original bumper mounts + 3D printer = 100% more lights

you know, just in case a rally breaks out on my way to work.

still some adjustments to do, the front filler plates are way off on the angles to work. Yellow should give +5 scene points, so I might try some of that translucent paint on them, and if it looks like crap it'll be a good excuse to use the soda blaster again!

I know it's still 4 months until my yearly update, but the boys and I had the house to ourselves this weekend so we set to work on the exhaust that's been in the corner for a while. After 45 min. of trying to disconnect the muffler, the sawzall made an appearance and it was out, no turning back now.
A 4-1 header was going in, along with an Ansa sport exhaust and resonator. I had plans to blast and paint the header, but realistically it would mean doing that this weekend and putting off the install for another year, I decided to install as is.

3 of the studs came out, but I guess that's still way better then breaking one off. A little double nut action and everything was right again. [Image: YJ9dOIX.jpg]

7/8th of the nuts got installed. The angle makes it too close to the stud and the nut won't fit back on, and of course that's the last nut I tried to install. I probably won't die from that exhaust leak, right? :dunno: I'll try to take it off again at some point and maybe start the nut as the stud is just coming through and keep working it down as the header is matted up. (hopefully there will be enough room to turn the nut)

I did find I've got some work to do with the hangers, it's rigged up pretty fabulously right now, but I'll need some new brackets wielded on to be right, and maybe that'll fix the tail pipes being off center just enough to make my eye twitch.
Looks like all but #3 have some carbon. Maybe it's only running on 3 cylinders.

The car sounds good, well, about the same as the old did when it had a hole in the muffler, but I haven't taken it around yet as it's still sitting on rotted tires.

bonus project: I turned the boy loose with on the fogs and a can of yellow stained glass paint. The car is now 12% more Frenchie.

Either running on 3 (no fuel getting to the cylinder at all) or that one cylinder may be burning a bit of coolant, effectively steam cleaning the exhaust...
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

Great to see this little thing getting some love! Sucks about that exhaust stud though.

That cylinder #3 being so clean certainly is interesting. Does it feel like it's not firing?

I mean, it's got like 98hp or something, new, so it's always felt like it's been down on power.

If you're missing 25% of your cylinders, I would hope you notice. I'm right with you power wise and I can feel when it's missing.

agreed, that car can pull that look off properly.

exhaust stuff does suck. have you considered just hammering on the underside of that offending primary with a ballpeen or some kind of drift to give you room to access the stud nut? Motor Trend's Engine Master's show did a feature where they showed you can basically hammer a primary to the point you'd swear the flow would be pinched to death, and it has literally no effect on power.

Thanks, but I'll probably just roll in as is and worry about it another time...assuming the tires make it.

Ever since I bought this car I'd been looking for tan e21 recaro's, but the prices on them have been stupid, and I never found a tan set. These popped up in a feed one day for a very reasonable price, and the came with the correct adapters for my rails, so I bought them within 3 min of the posting. They need some straps refreshed underneath and while they aren't the correct color or material, they are a million times more comfortable than the original seats. I think it would have been worth the money to buy some 4 years ago and enjoy sitting in it for more than an hour.

They sit a bit taller then the original, and combined with the worn straps it's like you're leaning back in a lazy boy, but that should be resolved soon. The seats seem a bit narrower than the e30 sport seats, so while not uncomfortable, they really hug you. Installation was cake, 4 bolts under each seat to get off the rails, and it gave me a good chance to grease up the sliders since I can only assume they were previously greased with pine pitch. The passenger side would not move at all and the driver was so bad my wife couldn't slide it forward when she needed, now both move freely.

Now I'm left working a cost benefit of trying to recover these or maybe re-do the interior to black; although if I'm honest with my self I'm probably not going to do anything and just enjoy being comfortable and mismatched.
