Missed the point completely :thumbup:
It was more about how people call their "builds" builds when they are not builds. I am being a pain about semantics and I realize that. Trust me, my project car was nowhere near the level of Lee's and I learned a lot of hard lessons with that car. At least you havent blown up differentials, blown up motors, and multiple motor swaps in your college career. Had to bum rides off my girlfriend at the time for many months at a time. Would have been worth it to have a second car...but I was young and stupid.

Back on topic, great looking car, Stephen. I'll need to come look at both of them soon!

Has anyone even made any build threads recently? Don't see any on the front page of the projects section. If we're being pedantic, I would say projects can be big or small but to call a project a build, it should always be a bigger project.
This is admittedly a smaller project, but if the motor were to ever let go for any reason, I would probably do something fun with it like an EJ207 swap.

At what point does a project car officially become a "build"? Seems like that is the first question to answer if we're gonna start splitting hairs here.
When 50% or more of the motor comes out? When the motor comes out for performance upgrades? Is it time based, like if you've done suspension, brakes, and drivetrain improvements over 5 years it doesn't count cause you were just keeping up but if you fuck a credit card sideways and do it all at once it's a build?

welcome to MM, where its a national passtime to give everyone shit. its a bit like a bar where the longer you stay, the drunker and louder you get.
i actually prefer a good mix of "build" threads that aren't too extreme. i'm a regular guy on a nobody paycheck. i can't relate to stuff where people are like "yeah just got my new billet block in, had my camshafts dipped in gold, just installed a STACK dashboard myself while i was bored this morning", even though i think its super cool. sometimes its fun to just read about someone taking care of their car and making lasting improvements that help them enjoy it.

I feel like if it's multiple mods over whatever period of time that improves the car in performance we can call it a build.
A project i think I would consider maintenance/fixing/refreshing/messing with stuff cause you're bored, like an art project, like stancebros, hard parkers and show cars. (and actually I think we could fit a good chunk of autox cars in here too)

My valve cover oil leak is 95% fixed. I, stupidly, did this job at my parents house and didn't let the rtv dry like I should have so there is still a small leak along the bottom somewhere. It doesn't smoke any more, but I can still smell a hint of oil being burnt and there are a few drops under it in the morning. I'll redo this job when I get back from vacation when the motor isn't hot and when I have time to let the rtv cure properly.
I think I'm going to go ahead and order a catback for this thing next week while I'm on vacation so it will be waiting for me when I get back. Gotta put the rumble in rumble wagon.
On the note of exhausts, the guy from Status Gruppe said my exhaust tips will be in next week, so hopefully I might actually finally have the muffler for my M3 as well.

Which exhausts are you looking at? It's been a while but I loved the old TurboXS catback and downpipe on my first WRX (non Ti tip). It looked great, somewhat OEM-ish and sounded fantastic but not too loud

Maybe I'm confused with another brand but I remember reading issues on Speed3's

Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Hmm I don't think so, I remember mine being not cheap and pretty high quality. I think this was the exact one I had:
Turboback system:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://turboxs.com/shop/subaru/185-wrxsti-turbo-back-exahust-system-standard-muffler.html">http://turboxs.com/shop/subaru/185-wrxs ... ffler.html</a><!-- m -->
If you want just the muffler:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://turboxs.com/shop/exhaust/191-wrxsti-rear-muffler.html">http://turboxs.com/shop/exhaust/191-wrx ... ffler.html</a><!-- m -->
I've been to their shop, ran their UTEC EMS for a while and actually had a custom dyno tune there for my stage 4 setup on my first WRX. They were cool guys, their shop car at the time was an Elise iirc

Stockish looking, medium loudness, great tone, stainless steel, cheap
And it comes with a silencer if you want to put that in for long trips or something. Doubt I'll ever use it, but I guess it's nice to have the option.
