seriously, Anne has not driven my car a single time ever. I dont give 2 shits if she did, but why would she need to? Are you kidding? My wife not once has sat in my driver's seat nor will she ever unless life or death emergency. I'm talking about her car which we mostly take everywhere now (both have memory seats). If we drive somewhere together, she prefers that I drive but she also frequently takes the car out for errands herself.
How is your wife driving a car in the kitchen??!?!

Your wife doesn't do that Blue Apron shit?
We used to have our own cars... now both cars kinda belong to both of us. We each have our own daily driver, but this past Saturday we both drove the Saab and two days later we both drive the Mini. Both have manual seats and we're 6" different in height. I guess it doesn't matter much to us because we don't have to adjust mirrors or seat pitch/height. Maybe if you guys weren't driving all gangsta?

I had to Google that  I don't do kitchen stuff outside of reheating leftovers, grabbing a cup of coffee or making a bowl of cereal. I'm your guy if you need a dead animal thrown on the grill though

That's our plan when I get the truck although the RDX will still see most codriving duties. I want another option for both of us to drive for daily use or when / if a baby comes. The lack of memory keys in the particular truck I'll probably end up in is what it is...I'd have to get a lot bigger rig to get everything I'm ideally looking for in a vehicle.
Anyway back on topic, I commiserate with Mike. Memory seats are one of those things that you really don't want to do without after you have them (kind of like heated and cooled seats)

Interesting twist... I'm inheriting my mom's ~2001 RAV4. It scratches the AWD/utility itch and gives us a 2nd car for free. It's not what I would have chosen for our beater vehicle that we were likely going to pick up in the next few years, but it has a known history and again... free. Opens us up to a lot more options for the main car. For now we're investigating extended warranties for the Audi though. I guess the RAV basically becomes mine so maybe we could get away without memory seats!? Ooooohlalala the possibilities!
Oh, this all came about because my dad picked up a new A6 3.0T (supercharged) and doesn't need three cars to himself. He had planned on selling his Chevy 1500 thing, but decided he wants both the huge truck (he's towed with it once in 7 years) and sweet highway ride. He's having trouble dealing with the three cars (only has a three car garage and the golf cart has to go somewhere! #firstworldproblems), but refuses to get rid of my mom's car
I'm thinking I'll pick the RAV up in May when we have an annual family thing in DC and driving back with my dad or solo. Should be a fun trip because I can take my time/work remotely.

Wow! What luck! Chip (The Secretary this year) has a Rav 4 and every time I see him bopping around in it, I want one a little more. Seems like a great little Suv grocery getter.
For some reason my mom opted for the sport package so it doesn't look too too bad either. White, faux hood scoop, big spoiler, nicer wheels. Looks just like this one if you were to add a spoiler. Perfect? No. Fuck it... free. 130k miles and runs like a top (knock on wood). It has a billion rattles that I'll be working out... also likely swap out the head unit and be done.

Nice! My mom has one as her beater and it's got a boatload of miles and that pile is still running. And she's hard on her vehicles!

You rang?
So we're getting new pistons under warranty. They also suggest doing the timing chain tensioner (for $600 since they're in there) as opposed to the $5k job it is when it really needs it done. Hrm. Seems like Audi originally said they should be good for 150k miles (that's why they went away from the belt), but people do see them go at 80k. We're at 66k. No brainer?

I have no knowledge on this, but I'll take your word for it. Spend $600 now for piece of mind or gamble on $5k later? I'm taking the $600 all day.

Sounds like you caught a lucky break, honestly.
Spend that $600 on gasoline and set the entire thing on fire. Then, buy a Volvo.

Yeah I guess it depends on how long you plan to keep it. $600 is a lot for a sunk cost if you're going to trade it any time soon
