Thoughts?

Didn't you just say you were done with it? Get some new tires, lower your outrageous asking price on CL to something reasonable and wait for the right offer. Might seem dickish, but I doubt most of your prospective buyers won't be that concerned about asking about bushings.

I think he really just doesn't care at this point so I doubt he is going to listen to anything people say. I'd feel the same way.

It wasnt worth 3g 2 months ago or Channing would have sold it for not a trade. And that was when it was working. Now that i think about it, standing offer reduced to $2200...

Buy me 2 crispy snack wraps and a sweet tea from McDonald's and it's yours. I don't think I'd have a problem selling it once I get the new Guibo in and the new tires on. It seems to be just some new RTABs and a new oil pan gasket or CCV away from having nothing wrong with it after all of the little things I fixed. I'm going to list it at $4500 and see where I get talked down to.

You're right, but I sure won't feel good about it. Chan completely disclosed everything that was wrong with the car to me and I appreciate that very much.

Crazy how effective correctly diagnosing the issue can be, eh?

Glad you were able to get it sorted without too much heartache, if it makes you feel better the guibos and CSBs seem to go out in unison so your efforts may not have been completely in vain.

Chalk me up in the "do the RTAB's" column, especially if you have a neighbor with the tool. You'll go through $80 of tire in no time if they're that bad. Though it's worth mentioning that I'm pretty sure you'll need an alignment after that.

Oh that and my Powerflex ones chirp just a tiny bit on sharp bumps, and occasionally groan at slow speeds (like pulling into a steep driveway)...small price to pay for never having to change them again. As a matter of fact I don't even think I hear it anymore.

Turns out my neighbor doesn't have the RTAB tool, it's some other tool. As much as I'd like to knock those out before selling it, I think I'll just pass. I've definitely decided that BMW has won my heart in a lot of ways and I want to buy a nice one after college. For now, I want to have something simple and reliable like a Miata.

You can make your own RTAB tool using $10 of hardware from Home Depot, and they're easy to pop out. Worth doing IMO.

I figured out that the weird pull to the right that I thought was an alignment issue can be attributed to the shot RTABS, so I have OEM RTAB's ordered. Decided against splurging on Powerflex ones. I'm going to see if a shop will put them in since I need to have someone mount and balance these new tires and do a 4 wheel alignment, but I've been told no shops around here will install bushings you supply yourself. I figured they can't gouge me too much to add one hour labor to throw the bushings on before they do anything.

I've gotten a few people inquiring about the car, but none have come to look. I've decided I'm going to drive and enjoy it until someone comes to scoop it up. I got tired of getting in my uncomfortable truck while the blue beauty sat at the end of the street calling to me. I've been looking at prices for new belts/pulleys. I figure if no one buys the car soon, I'll go ahead and replace all of those and see how the water pump pulley sounds while I have everything off. The water pumps on E46s don't really suddenly break like E36's did, so if the belts and pulleys are good, I've got no worries. If the car isn't sold after all of that, I'll tackle the CCV in the summer and had a problem free E46.

It's weird how your perceptions of a car change after driving a wagon... I mean truck for a week.

Also, does anyone have a RTAB tool I can borrow? Hopefully before the car show so I can put these tires on and pass the auto-x inspection.

Wait, you just said that you'd have a shop do the RTABs and then you ask about the tool. I'm confused.

Looks like you can rent the tool (or one that works) from somewhere like Advance: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=712400

Belts and pulleys are easy and fairly cheap, I just did them on the convertible last night.

When I originally posted it, i wanted a shop to do it, but then I found out that no shop around here will install bushings you supply. I edited the post poorly I guess.
