Something about finding all the old pics before you got it and being able to chronologically order them up with all you've done is so freaking cool. Also, seeing all the different wheels that have been on it. Awesome.

Wow, that's really awesome to see your car in its past lives.
What's even cooler is the fact that you've had this thing for so long. Definitely some kind of MM record.

Well done grabbing both garage spots.
I always had a soft spots for LTW's, too - looked long and hard for the 4 lug replicas back in my e30 days. And I love that "hide the driver's bolster" trick so many people try. Cool pic history!

It's up there for sure. I think it's officially the longest-owned BMW in the club. DJ and Mike D bought E36 Ms the same summer I did but they both used them like $2 whores, err, i mean, track cars.

It never really looks the same in any two photos.

Other than Dan's old s2k I can't think of other cars I really like in yellow. Bright silver wheels definitely help the color combo overall.

Well this thing has been a proper pain in the dick lately.
In addition to the worsening oil pan leakage and broken door handle, the bolts holding the driver's door panel on are slowly stripping out, and I *think* the TOB is starting to make some scary intermittent noises. Last time I touched it I was backing it into the driveway, something goes *tink* and the exhaust starts leaking.
I brooded about it for five days and finally jacked it up last night to find it chewed up and spit out one of my V-bands. I guess they don't like being 3" off the ground.
A new one is in the mail but won't be here until the middle of next week.
I also took the opportunity to inspect underneath the car to see if my worsening leak is still just coming from the oil pan. Everything from the pan up is bone dry, everything below the pan, from the steering rack to about the middle of the trans, is completely hosed with oil, so I guess it is just that gasket and possibly the rear main seal.
Replacing the gasket isn't a huge deal but it's kind of a slippery slope situation. It would be foolish to tear the thing apart that far and not also do the rod bearings given its mileage, but that is kind of a shitty job to do in the car, so the most logical thing to do is really to just rip the whole drivetrain out of the thing, change the clutch, tob, rear main seal, input/output seals, flip it over and do the rod bearings, secure the oil pump nut, new gaskets, etc, and now we're talking about $1000 in parts I don't feel like spending, nor do I want to waste my time piece mailing it and doing rod bearings/gaskets now only to have the TOB finish dying in a couple months. So it's just gonna have to deal and sit there with cardboard under it until I feel like dealing with its shitty attitude.
So who's pumped to see a VW at the show?

Finally took the time to install my new exhaust clamp this past weekend, I managed to angle it in there so the bolt is across the top of the pipe to maximize ground clearance, it took a lot longer but hopefully it'll save me from having to do it again next year. Everything else on this car is in a holding pattern, I might try to replace the driver's door handle soon so I can actually roll the window up, but everything else on the list will have to wait.
On a semi-related note, I've grown myself a pretty darn good garage dog here.

Props for not falling down the exhaust gasket -> pull drivetrain slope.

Unexpected work garage sighting today:
My Dad had one of these in orange (without all the aftermarket cosmetic bits) but we didn't have it at the same time as the E36 so I never saw them next to each other, makes my car look like a 7-series...

Yeah, memories and shit.
Hey look I haven't forgotten about this car! Lauren and the dog are at the beach this week so I decided to keep myself busy by knocking out the oil pan gasket. I'm sick of watching all the oil I put in it end up on the floor. Not going to do the rod bearings but I will check the oil pump nut when I'm in there and order the safety wired replacement nut if it hasn't been addressed yet (I suspect that an enthusiast-owned early-build car approaching 200k probably has it done or it wouldnt have made it this far, but who knows).
Anyway I got the thing on stands, took the cross brace off and drained the oil only to discover both my 13mm crescent and 1/4 ratchet are missing, so I had no way to disconnect the steering column. I'll regroup with a lunch break run to HF and attempt to actually get something done tonight.
Also, some asshole did this to one of my cross brace bolts...
