Date: May 21st weekend
I know it is far in advance but I'll be working Friday - Sunday and driving DE2 solo on Saturday and Sunday. Laura has put me as grid (shitty, but whatever).
She said she will definitely be putting up MM together whether it be at Best Western or at VIR depending on how April event goes and pre-registration money wise.
I'd say email Laura if you want to work (current students) so she can get an idea on the room situation and also that you are guaranteed a spot to work.
What old people are coming?

I am going to try and make it. No RV this year. I'd like to split a room at VIR possibly. Maeng?

All plans are to be there again this year. Not bringing the dogs again. Do we want to do a special MM thing?

What's the date for this again? Might want to update the op with some more info for the newbies that may wander on to the forum.
I'm pretty sure it's after finals, so I'll be there. Might finally work an event if it doesn't take away from my enjoying the event too much.

BTW Grid isn't bad at all. I did grid for years before doing pace/announcing/tech. Way better than flagging which I punished myself for 3 years doing....

Updated
And it will and won't take away from the experience if that makes sense. You'll be able to watch from grid and see all the cars. You get free lunch, free room to stay, and more. You can also still have ice cold beverages at night as well. You just can't wander off. Just bring sun screen or a pop up tent to stand under. Water is free.

Yeah just last summer was terrible working at grid with the heat that was my only complaint besides being sore and tired which was expected from standing and moving all day. Overall, I give it 7/10. Definitely want to move up to pace and/or registration though.

Wow, i have no idea where I'm even working yet lol. I know it's somewhere since Laura made sure to lock me in for the weekend. Probably hyperfest side like last time.
I'm on grid every weekend, you'll survive the sunburn. Do we need to make sure you have a protection tent this time again Ryan?

Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk Don't work Hyperfest. I'm pretty sure we had this same discussion last year. So many things to do/beers to drink that you will miss out. Work any other event if you want. But this one is too much fun to be stuck standing on a hot ass piece of pavement all day.

I think I remember this conversation last year. Yeah I guess I won't work it. I still would like to camp out with the Nasa people if possible.
I want to work an event but if I'm still working at a restaurant come Summer, spending a weekend with Nasa will cost me money. Haha

I'll be there Thursday through Sunday - doing Hyperfest setup Friday and working it Saturday, then TTing Sunday. I have some family friends from the Durham area coming up on Saturday so I may try to sneak out and give their son a ride in the M3.
Would be great to see a bunch of students out for this - always a fun time and I've really enjoyed having it at VIR, the attitude is different and I think for the better.
Now:

Then:

May attend. Haven't heard anything from Laura so idk if I'll work or not.
And grid is easy as shit. Most of the people don't even do anything because there's so many for Hyperfest. My girlfriend did it last year although I doubt she'll do it again after the rooming situation which was kind of bullshit.

Ticket paid for. Looks like we have a lot of MM'ers going this year.
Any chance I'll be able to tent camp with NASA?
90% I'm in... HPDE2... towing and camping
We might want to circle the wagons for Hyperfest to keep the crazy people out lol

Camping where? I'm still a little fuzzy on what I need to do to chill with y'all.
Senor_Taylor Wrote:Camping where? I'm still a little fuzzy on what I need to do to chill with y'all. It's not an exclusive club. You can plop your tent wherever there is space. Might be more comfortable in the grass though as opposed to pavement.

Plenty of space around our rig for setting up tents but yeah the grass may be a bit more comfortable than asphalt

I just remember two years ago they told me they told me I wouldn't be allowed to camp on the Nasa side at the gate and I had to convince them it was cool and had to snag a Nasa sticker from someone.
