I think the first time I realized dual-engined cars were a thing was when I read about this Hyundai in the pages of Sport Compact Car. It competed in their Ultimate Street Car Challenge back in '01 or '02, and did this heinous burnout by putting the front engine in reverse and the rear one in drive:

My Saab mechanic and I spent way too much time bullshitting about how the truck of my 900 was more or less the same size (and same position over the wheels) as the engine bay. The fabrication and wiring stuff seems "simple" enough, what we couldn't wrap our brains around is how the hell do you keep two totally separate drivetrains in sync.

You don't have to keep them exactly in sync. Having the throttles somewhat close on both motors would work fine since the two systems would be entirely separate.

One of them wouldn't be dragged along either, the force generated from both motors would be combined.

i can't imagine how awkward that has to drive since you're basically slamming the rear engine's auto all over the place with the throttle every time you shift the front engine...every time you lift to shift i bet it tries to upshift and gets completely confused :lol:

He needs a lever on the manual shifter that overrides the rear engine throttle so when he goes to shift the front engine he can keep the rear one pinned wide open and not lose any momentum. :lol:
